As someone who's had to utilize air medical quite a bit due to the remote area that I practice in, I'm baffled.
We don't call helicopters for funsies. These are cases where life depends on rapid transport.
The fact that a bunch of rich dicks just ripped away a resource is crazy.
Running 120+ calls for said agency in the span of 6 months, I know what it meant to the people in this area to have quick and reliable service. Unfortunately, those same people are now having to wait 20-30 minutes for an ambulance because the Chiefs didn’t want to do their job.
Watching an agency shut down after 30+ years of service is hard.
It’s even harder knowing that instead of passing the legacy onto the next generation, those in charge chose to shut the doors to preserve their titles.
Rural EMS is already struggling, we don’t need selfish leaders.
