By order of the President of South Africa: The Electricity Regulation Amendment Act will come into operation on 1 January 2025, except the definitions of "reticulation" and "distribution power systems" are excluded for the time being.

Stage 6 - ? Load Shedding:
Just a simple heads up I have repeated numerous times.
Load Shedding cannot and will not dissappear if we grow the South African economy.
In 2002 I was in the control room of Unit 1 at Koeberg when we reached an evening peak sent out of 36000MW. This was a new record for Eskom and everyone cheered.
Not for long. The 1998 white paper on energy said that we needed to start building new baseload capable power stations by the year 2002.
It was in 2002 when we saw the first load shedding of the potlines to the smelters in KZN on a regular basis.
We reached the end of our tether under the Mbeki keep the lights on campaign. The media and the public was non the wiser.
It was not Jacob Zuma that started the demise of Eskom. It was the ANC controlled national government that did not understand electricity production since the inauguration of Nelson Mandela in 1994.
The script was written and the actors were cast.
There was no turning back.
The planned destruction of Eskom was on its way.
Now we are lucky if we can generate 24000MW. This is 12000MW short of what we produced 20 years ago.
Only the people of South Africa can turn this around by changing the rotten governance system and electoral system we were handed in 1994.

Dear Minister, this is not what you told us a few months ago. You were adamant you had a plan, and things didn’t look this bad!!! Months of ‘intensified’ load shedding coming, says minister https://t.co/qgmcR8EL8S
Not that South Africans need a reminder but it's still sobering to see how extreme power cuts were in 2022 compared to previous years. We still need a deeper explanation of how and why the performance of @Eskom_SA's power stations has deteriorated so rapidly
@CSIR
STAGE 12 is Possible
We will reach Stage 6 to 12 this winter if we do not stabilize the coal fleet. We will experience this annually in increasing severity if we do not construct new generating capacity that can carry Base Load.
@Loadshedding_SA@EskomSePush@PresidencyZA
If you think the Eskom collapse is not getting worse and that the economy won't tank totally this year, please open your ears and eyes. We don't want anarchy to set in and need to be organised and bold to rescue ourselves. Not for…https://t.co/0hAqf73nMs https://t.co/1etLeVxG39
Let that sink in. Every month one Billion Rand is stolen from @Eskom#Loadshedding and then consumers are asked to pay for increases and receive less electricity.
A shower uses less water than bathing and, if you use a water-efficient shower head, you are doubling your efforts to save hot water, which means less work for the geyser.
