I'm pleased to say that I've shaken hands on a deal to sell everything to a young local chef who'll be baking Real Bread in the centre of Doncaster somewhere. I'm looking forward to being his first customer.
.@realbread and anyone who's looking to gear up a small bakehouse, I'm afraid the pandemic and my responsibilities as a carer have done for The Loafery as a commercial entity. Before I sell everything as a job lot to a dealer, maybe someone might like to make an offer on: 1/

No sensible offers refused, I'd l rather sell direct to a Real Bread baker than to a dealer any day of the week.
I got the oven into the bakehouse with a Hiab truck, so you'd probably need to hire something similar. Everything else will happily go in a taillight truck.
Back when restrictions started easing, I was asked when Iโd start baking again and I said, โNot until at least September.โ And... well, itโs nearly September and none of the things that would make me feel safe to reopen are in place, so Iโm afraid I wonโt be baking this month.
This thread, on my personal account got a little out of hand and turned into a kind ofโฆ something that I thought Loafery followers might like to read too. The Lockdown has been a trying time, but weโll come out of it still baking the best bread we can. Roll on the day.
One โadvantageโ of running a one person bakery is that I can self isolate and still bake. But this is probably my last batch for a while. Diabetes and my wife being in her seventies mean that our acceptable risk is rather lower than for some of our customers.
The 0330 alarm on a bake day isnโt my favourite thing, but the larks in the field next door to the bake house were singing their hearts out when I set off with the deliveries so there are compensations.

@Local_Branton Damn! We have friends coming round to sing folk songs with us today or we would so have been there for that. Boston baked beans? Count me in.
Is it always the first Sunday?
Raising a mug of Jennyโs Blend from @Imperial_teas in memory of a brilliant woman who seemed like a fixture at one of my favourite shops.
So long, and thanks for all the brews. https://t.co/I4c88uKwjS
Note to self: Sort out packaging for seasonal products like stollen at least a season before you sell them. Stollen packaging this year will be... functional.
