IAFF Local 3217, professional firefighters union at DCA & IAD. Posts/likes are not releases, opinions, or statements of our employer. Fire/EMS/ARFF/Haz-Mat
We are calling on our community for support.
IAFF Local 3217 has spent years attempting to work collaboratively with MWAA to secure fair and competitive compensation for the firefighters who protect DCA and IAD every day.
This Memorial Day, please remember all of the brave men and women who gave their lives in service with the United States military. May their sacrifice, and the sacrifice of their families and loved ones, never be forgotten.
We appreciate their service, hard work, and continual efforts to improve healthcare outcomes through the delivery of evidence-based EMS care. #IAFF#union#EMS
We would like to recognize the men & women of L3217 during National EMS Week, May 17–23. The FFs of MWAA are EMTs and paramedics who respond to >8,000 calls each year, the vast majority of which are EMS-related, throughout DCA, IAD, and the surrounding jurisdictions.
In addition to responding to these emergency incidents each year, they conduct monthly training, regularly provide public CPR and first aid classes, and provide standby EMS services for special events.
Brother Jasinski’s impact on this Local, this department, and the members he worked beside will not be forgotten. Thank you, Brother Jasinski, for your dedication, camaraderie, professionalism, and commitment to the fire service.
Today, IAFF Local 3217 says goodbye to one of our own, Master Firefighter Jasinski.
Brother Jasinski leaves behind 13 years of dedicated service with Local 3217 and more than 20 years in the fire service overall. His departure is not simply the loss of a position on a roster.
Unfortunately, we continue to see valuable members leave the profession or move on in search of better opportunities to support themselves and their families while many continue waiting for meaningful change.
Promises made. Promises broken.
On the campaign trail, @GovernorVA committed to fighting for public workers and ensuring they had a voice on the job. This week, she vetoed legislation that would have done exactly that.

🔥 The Virginia General Assembly has spoken.
It's time for @GovernorVA to #SignTheBill and finally give fire fighters a voice on their health and safety, pay, benefits, and working conditions.

@GovernorVA's veto is a betrayal of her repeated commitments on the campaign trail to support workers.
Her decision will not only make Virginia communities less safe, but it risks the safety of their #firefighters, as well.
Today, the @GovernorVA turned her back on Virginia firefighters and public sector workers across the Commonwealth.

Despite this setback, our mission remains unchanged. L3217 members will continue answering every call, protecting the airports and communities we are sworn to serve, and standing ready for the traveling public and surrounding jurisdictions.
Fair contracts. Fierce commitment
Today, Virginia firefighters and public sector workers were let down.
IAFF Local 3217 stands with the VPFF, IAFF, and our brothers and sisters across the Commonwealth following Governor Spanberger’s veto of collective bargaining legislation.
We are deeply disappointed in a decision that turns its back on the firefighters, paramedics, EMS providers, and 911 professionals who continue to serve Virginians every single day.
Not every call is an emergency fire or medical response. Sometimes it’s about helping the smallest members of the community too.
