Change can be scary and exciting, but quite often, it's necessary.
We're restructuring our operations over the next few weeks, so don't be alarmed if you see something you weren't quite expecting!
Strap in... it's gonna be a wild one - https://t.co/qexjW6CfIg
Thank you, Phil B., for this 5-star review of our Smart Plugs: "These are perfect. Once an MQTT service is set up in Home Assistant and the sockets are given the address and password, they just work. I've never had an issue with them, and they are my go-to for new smart sockets."
You'll know we don't do seasonal discounts... but we like to pass on savings or use them to say thanks for being patient!
As such, our UK Plugs are now discounted 10% until we're back and shipping next month

It's that time of the year, again - https://t.co/F5kcyqUGc7
Admittedly, this was a difficult one to write, as it feels like LocalBytes didn't really "do anything" in 2025. But, I'm hopeful we've laid out good foundations for the year ahead!
Thanks for supporting us,
AA
It's been a while, but the Local Deck will be back soon!

We've spent some much-needed time on behind-the-scenes fixes to increase stability and reliability, so you can be more confident it'll "just work"!
As usual, we’ve released our year in review, looking at what we’ve been doing and what’s next!

Are you curious as to how we made the LocalDeck?
You can now take a peak behind the curtain as we've just made the CAD repository publically accessible!

We already display the DE VAT number on the parcel's label and in the extended customs descriptions we submit. We're struggling to understand what more we can do to prevent additional VAT charges!
We'll continue doing our best to ensure nobody foots the bill twice!

A quick note on Taxes!
We know that a few of our EU customers have been hit with various import charges since going in-house.
This is far from ideal, and we are pushing to resolve this!
Unfortunately, the German Tax office has rejected our various IOSS applications because we no longer have a physical presence in Germany.
Since we don't have an IOSS number, customs sometimes charge us for our parcels despite a valid full VAT registration.
