A decade ago, in a small corner of Nigeria, the Lordâs work began quietlyâbut powerfullyâthrough a handful of new believers. Today, that tiny light has grown, and Iâm here to share the miracles and faith behind it.
Ten years ago, when I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we were just a small group of new believers gathering on the streets of Makurdi. Shortly after the Gospel reached Otukpo, missionaries were sent to establish the Church in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria.
At first, we were the talk of the townâfor all the wrong reasons. People ridiculed us, called us names, and even labeled us a cult because of our black and whitSunday attire. Some in my own circle jokingly called me the âMormon Missionary.â It hurt at first, but over time, I grew stronger, and the noise faded into the background.
Ironically, many of those same critics later joined the Church, inspired by the same âMormon Missionaryâ they once mocked. Through this experience, I learned: it is never easy being a pioneer member in a place where the Church is newâbut it is always worth it.
The foundation that kept us united was our deep love for the Gospel and for each other. Even through difficult timesâwhen our unit leader was arrested or when missionaries were chased away while sharing the Gospelâour love and testimony never wavered.
That same spirit is why Iâm here on X: to fulfill my mission of sharing the light of the Gospel and the blessings it has brought to my people. Itâs also to create opportunities to assist struggling members in this growing part of Zion. Iâm truly grateful for your support so far.
The baptisms I do post or sharing often is the result of years of hard work, consistent faith, and the powerful influence of the Gospel in Makurdi and Gbokoâjust a small piece of the Lordâs vineyard.
Iâm here to tell the stories of my peopleâour challenges, triumphs, and testimonies. But if you donât follow, how will you hear them?
Welcome to my space here on X. Iâm Okpanachi Elvis Sunday, and itâs good to have you here. If youâve read this far, I know you care about our story. Please visit my profile, click the follow button, and stay tuned for more inspiring accounts of the Churchâs growth in Nigeria.
@DonLumzyAdams@daveplayblogger Is that his responsibility in the first place? If the government couldn't trace who made the video at least they should reach out to him and get proper information. Bayo taking credits for doing nothing makes no sense. He is just putting accusing hands on wrong people.
@aonanuga1956 I hope you can track the bandits too in their hidden places and fetch them out? You're just so incompetent to represent our president. If not Nigeria i wonder what people like you are doing in government.
I'm still wondering what my generation will definitely turn into, seem like many of us will end up not getting married, or probably divorce in a short while, there's too much information in circulation in this world and it's a big threat to human relationships.

This is not an AI-generated image; it's an actual image from a TikTok post by bandits enjoying themselves and sharing the proceeds from their business. Nigeria đłđŹ is a disgraceful nation. I can easily be tracked for this tweet, but not the bandits.

I went to visit a young man trying to start life again. There's absolutely nothing in his room, no mattress, and an unplastered room. I feel heartbroken. I really don't have the means to help everyone, but if you want to help him get a mattress, reach out for $100.

Three weeks ago, I traveled 12 hours by road from the Federal Capital Territory to the western part of Nigeria. Throughout our journey, we are in fear of not being unfortunate enough to meet terrorists along the way to our destination.Nigeria is 80% of my problem. WE ARE AT WAR.

If you travel in Nigeria by road, make sure you have a spare 50 million naira to pay for your ransom in case you are kidnapped. This country is a shit hole, and prayers cannot solve what bullets can do. Legalize guns in Nigeria, we are at war.
TROOPS IN KOGI CRUSH KIDNAPPERSâ ESCAPE PLAN, RESCUE 23 VICTIMS
Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have successfully rescued 23 kidnapped passengers following a swift counter-kidnapping operation along the AyegunleâBunu Road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The rescue operation was launched in the early hours of 1 June 2026 after suspected bandits barricaded the highway and abducted several passengers travelling through the area. Acting on a distress call received at about 3:30 am, troops deployed within the Kabba metropolis immediately staged a rescue operation to the scene.
Although the kidnappers had fled before the arrival of security forces, troops swiftly initiated an aggressive pursuit along the criminalsâ suspected withdrawal routes. The troops during an assessment of the attack scene recovered two Toyota commercial buses and a HOWO truck abandoned by the roadside. Sadly, two victims were confirmed dead, while five others sustained injuries and were promptly evacuated to St. Joseph Hospital, Kabba, where they are currently receiving treatment. The relentless pressure mounted by the pursuing troops forced the kidnappers to abandon 23 of their captives, who were subsequently rescued unharmed and secured.
Troops have continued to dominate the general area and are conducting intensive search-and-rescue operations aimed at locating and safely recovering any remaining victims still in captivity. The Nigerian Army remains resolute in denying criminal elements freedom of action and will continue to work closely with other security agencies and local stakeholders to strengthen security across Kogi State and the nation at large.
The public is urged to please continue supporting ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible information to relevant security agencies.
