I’m so honored, humbled, and excited to help TMS continue to be a great society that pushes the materials field to not just be great technically, but to also ensure we continuously improve to allow all to reach their full potential.
We welcome Jenifer Locke of The Ohio State University as the Membership Diversity and Development Director. Her term will start at the 2025 #TMSAnnualMeeting and will extend through 2027.
Students do some amazing things in the bladesmithing competition. Check out some impressive and beautiful ways students use their materials knowledge. It’s inspiring, my 10 yr old daughter agrees!

This is Witt, my undergrad institution, in Springfield, OH. All over Springfield violence is threatened against the Haitian community and community as a whole because of lies spewed by DJT. Words matter! Springfield needs help, not hate. Leaders should help, not spread hate.
Reminder: Classes will be remote tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 16. Faculty/staff are also expected to work remotely, except for essential employees. All on-campus events, athletics, and activities will again be canceled tomorrow. Visit https://t.co/bDTy6iYwfB for more information.
This summer was hard with the passing of my father and my son seriously injuring his hand. I realized that academia gives you freedom in your schedule, but is not a place that gives support. Things can be delayed, but many aren’t patient. Work shouldn’t come before humanity.
Our CEGC is hosting Pride Experiences in STEM today! The keynote speaker is @BestKelsea! See you at 1:00 pm in the CBEC lobby for the reception, and stay for the tie-dye and snow cones!

While not doing science, I’ve been taking a hip hop class while at Dublin Dance and Gymnastics for my daughter’s many dance and gymnastics classes. Today was mommy and me dress rehearsal for the big June show. @DublinDance Thank you Steve Rose for the amazing photo of Clara.
I hope everyone had a Memorial Day that brought them some joy. I am thankful my brother is safe and somber as two people I grew up knowing, Dan Patron and Aaron Seesan, did give their future. My heart is with those who are hurting today. Thank you the sacrifice.
More than 100 symposia in 11 topic tracks are planned for the TMS2025. Plan to present your work at the meeting that brings together the world’s minerals, metals, and materials science and engineering community. Submit your abstract today! https://t.co/lL7OcZ8MWi
