X (formerly twitter) HAS A PROBLEM THAT @billions_ntwk CAN SOLVE!✍️
Almost 20 years ago, twitter released its first public API (Application Programming Interface) not too long after twitter itself launched but the API became widely adopted in later years.
The main purpose of this API was to enable developers to build tools that could interact with twitter's data and features (e.g. third-party apps and "bots").
This great innovation led to the misuse of bots and AI slops which is one of the issues X (formerly twitter) is still tackling today!
For those who don't know, AI slops are mass produced low quality contents that are "supposedly" generated by AI(bots), have no real value and are posted with the primary purpose of farming engagement. This is a problem because it doesn't just drown the real voices on the platform but also reduces the platform's authenticity.
HOW CAN @billions_ntwk SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?
First we need to understand what Billions is about, @billions_ntwk positions itself as the first universal decentralized human and AI trust layer, they serve as a cryptographic platform that tells the internet who and what is real based on their verifiable identity and reputation without disclosing any personal data.
Billions can solve the problem of Bots and AI slops by making the system value content from real, accountable and verifiable entities while targeting the root cause of the problem and not just its symptoms.
This in turn increases sybil resistance and helps X to promote content from verifiable entities with good reputation, be it human or AI. And if the user or agent has no identity, they are easier to flag!!
You cannot go wrong when every user and agent on your platform carries a verifiable identity and reputation. It is then up to the platform (X-formerly twitter) to give more priority to high trust agents and demote the low trusts agents.
In my opinion @nikitabier, this could have been a more strategic and foundational step toward significantly limiting bot activity on the platform.
