@AlexisRaeana I always said that I would never move back to Rob Co. Now, I try to reframe my reasons into realistic changes that could be made. It will take time, genuine commitment, and actual support. However, it is needed for our people to return home. Most importantly, being proud of home.
Happy Earth Day to all the Indigenous people who risk their lives to protect our land from pipelines, land stealing, corporations, and our corrupt government. If you’re a non-Native donating money today, donate to a Native org.
Y’all please congratulate everyone’s favorite geographer, Dr. Andrew Curley, who not only just published a book but also just received U of Arizona’s Early Career Scholar Award.🏆 @wahgraphy we all have learned so much from you even tho or perhaps because you’re also goofy ❤️🔥🤗
Absolutely must read on Mikayah Locklear’s work in the DTH today! @LocklearMikayah has been making an archive of Native student leadership at UNC and I have learned so much already! Part of our Land Back Abolition Project ❤️🔥@daniellepurifoy@uncLandBack@iah_unc link below!
People arent “lazy.” Some arent motivated because of being in survival mode for so long. Some experience depression that depletes their energy even if they in bed all day. Some are battling internal struggles that take alot to overcome even if it looks like they’re doing nothing.
When people talk about renewable energy potential on Indigenous lands, without Indigenous People part of the equation, it's a hard pass. We make the decisions about our homelands. Our communities will not be another national sacrifice zone.
Romanticise your life —
• Sit at a local park and read your favourite book.
• Enjoy your coffee or tea whilst people-watching.
• Watch a movie or have dinner by yourself.
• Play classical music while cooking and cleaning.
• Read hardcover books & keep one on hand.
People assume your gentleness must have come from an easy life. They don't know you walked through the darkness alone and transformed your pain into power, your wounds into wisdom, the mistreatment of others into boundaries, and your generational curses into blessings.
