We're proud to share that Kimball Midwest and Locus Robotics won Best Use of Robotics at the 2026 Supply Chain Excellence Awards USA.

The recognition reflects what happens when automation is applied to solve real operational challenges.

With Locus Robotics, Kimball Midwest increased their picking productivity by approximately 45% and improved putaway productivity by more than 100% while maintaining its 99.9% same-day shipping standard for orders received by 4 p.m.
The operation also reduced training from weeks to hours, eliminated dependence on temporary labor, and made warehouse work easier for associates.

Congratulations to the teams at Kimball Midwest and Locus Robotics whose work made these results possible.

Warehouse automation has traditionally been built around specialized systems: one robot or technology designed to perform one primary task. But warehouse priorities rarely stay that simple.

Polyfunctional robots are designed to perform multiple related tasks within the environment they support. In the warehouse, that can mean applying robotic capacity across picking, putaway, replenishment, induction, slotting, returns, and other workflows as operational needs change.

Our latest article explains why polyfunctional robotics is emerging, what separates true polyfunctionality from simply adding more features, and how Locus Array brings this approach into real-world warehouse operations.

Warehouse automation is entering a new phase. Polyfunctional robots support multiple related workflows, so robotic capacity can shift where it creates value as priorities change. See how Locus Array applies this approach:

Deploying AI in robotics requires stricter reliability than pure software LLMs, says Dustin Pederson, CFO of @LocusRobotics.

“Ideally you’d have some sort of robotics brain that can control everything but you have to be able to do it 99.99% of the time and it’s got to be safe.”

“It's got to solve the customer problem for it to really have value.”

Which warehouse automation model is right for your operation?

The answer depends on more than throughput.

Goods-to-Person, Person-to-Goods, and Robots-to-Goods each have different strengths depending on your operation, labor strategy, and growth plans.

Our latest guide compares all three to help you make a more informed automation decision.

@Ferbin08 The constraint was not the layout. It was inventory movement.

Our robots helped Kimball Midwest move associates between putaway and picking based on operational priorities, keeping product flowing faster without redesigning the facility.

[Locus Robotics @LocusRobotics]

Kimball Midwest was doubling in size every five years, and putaway needed to keep pace without a major facility redesign.

With Locus Robotics, the team improved putaway productivity by 100%+, with some facilities moving from ~30 to 90+ lines/hour. Picking productivity improved by about 45%, onboarding dropped from days or weeks to minutes or hours, and the team maintained 99.9% same-day shipping.

By combining putaway and picking in one flexible workflow, Kimball Midwest kept inventory moving, scaled throughput, and gave managers more control as demand shifted.

Temperature-controlled fulfillment leaves little room for delay. Locus Robotics helped @HelloFresh expand chilled fulfillment capacity from 100 to 500 SKUs through a customized Locus Origin deployment built for refrigerated operations.

The deployment began with 13 robots at Factor and expanded with 26 additional robots after early performance demonstrated the consistency and reliability needed for chilled fulfillment.

More SKU variety. Faster fulfillment movement. Flexible automation built for demanding warehouse environments.

Fulfillment operations need automation that can keep work moving as demand, labor availability, and order complexity change.

Locus Array automates shelf-level fulfillment work across picking, putaway, consolidation, and replenishment. Powered by LocusONE, it senses, decides, and acts in real time to help teams reduce manual touches, improve throughput predictability, and operate with greater confidence.

Robotic grasping looks simple until it has to work in a real warehouse.

That is why mobile manipulation matters.

The next phase of warehouse automation is not just about robots moving from place to place. It is about Physical AI that can perceive changing conditions, adapt in real time, and interact directly with inventory at production speed.

Better grasping expands what can be automated, reduces manual exception handling, and helps fulfillment operations keep work flowing through SKU variability and shifting demand.

Big news for Locus Robotics in Europe.

Next year, we will open our new European Customer Experience & Demo Hub at the Logistics Campus Aalsmeer, near Amsterdam.

This new 6,000-square-meter hub marks a major step forward in our European growth, tripling our operational capacity in the region and giving customers, prospects, partners, and our teams a dedicated space to experience flexible automation at scale.

The hub will bring our Physical AI portfolio to life through customer demonstrations, solution workshops, training, partner activities, regional robot lifecycle support, and real-world showcases of Locus Origin, Locus Vector, Locus Array, and LocusONE™.

As demand for warehouse automation continues to grow across Europe, this investment strengthens our ability to help customers build the Operational Confidence they need to adapt, scale, and outperform in an increasingly dynamic market.

Here is a first look at what the new building will look like once fully developed.

Not every SKU is automation-friendly.

Some items bend.
Some slip.
Some collapse.
Some refuse the perfect grasp.

That is the pickability problem.

NeuraGrasp™ was engineered for that reality — using patented end-effector technology and AI-driven grasping intelligence to adapt to high-variability inventory.
