Spain’s new rental law (RDL 28/2026) takes effect 15 Nov 2026. Landlords ending a lease will owe tenants at least 12 months’ rent, renewals stretch to 5 or 7 years, and notice rises to 6 months.

Your PMS says the booking is active. Airbnb says it was cancelled. If you file STR taxes off the PMS report alone, you could be paying tax on money you never earned.
Reconcile with your Airbnb and Vrbo payouts before every filing.

Airbnb collects the tax" doesn't mean you're covered. Local occupancy taxes, county lodging taxes, and off-platform bookings often fall outside what platforms remit, and many areas still require your own filings. Know your gap: https://t.co/7p3KixGyIq

Alabama STR rules are getting stricter city by city. Decatur's new ordinance caps certificates, sets occupancy limits, and requires a local point of contact within 50 miles. Athens, Auburn, Mobile, and Tuscaloosa each have their own licensing and insurance rules too.

Barcelona is phasing out all 10,000+ licensed tourist apartments by 2028. Not a ban. Licenses just quietly expiring and never renewing.
Most hosts found out from the news.
The real risk was never the specific rule. It was not knowing a change was coming.

NC's "statewide protection" only covers rentals already operating before a new ordinance. No statewide license exists, every city sets its own rules. Pending SB 291 could reshape it all. Know what your grandfather clause actually covers. #license#STR#tax#regulations
Your 1099-K isn't random. Every US host gets one by Jan 31st, by federal law. But it shows gross volume, not real income after expenses. Reconcile your own numbers before the form lands. #explorepage #1099-k #1099k#taxform#tax#strtax
A new short-term let register could wipe out thousands of listings, with one operator warning "this is going to destroy a lot of people in the industry." Enforcement now pushed to December 2026.

National City just went from zero STR regulation to one of the strictest ordinances in San Diego County, capping permits at 180 units after shootings and stabbings were traced back to unsupervised rentals. No grandfathering. Every host reapplies from scratch. This is what happens when a city has no rules for years and then decides to catch up all at once. Compliance isn't the burden here. Getting caught without it is.

Airbnb just won a major EU trademark battle. Officials invalidated a German company's "Abnbx" crypto software mark, ruling it was deliberately designed to piggyback on Airbnb's reputation. Another reminder: brand protection matters, even in crypto/software spaces. ⚖️ #Airbnb #TrademarkLaw #EU

STRs must also have working smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors, evacuation diagrams and emergency contact information.

England's mayors just got the power to set a tourist tax with no cap. London's floating 3%, which could pull in £350M a year in the capital alone. If you host short-term rentals in the UK, this is worth watching closely.

Worth tracking as this moves toward council: final wording on "nuisance," whether reporting is host-initiated or pulled from city/police records directly, and the compliance timeline for existing operators. Story linked below.

For hosts already running clean, licensed operations, this isn't necessarily bad news. Clear rules plus a documented compliance history become a real edge once enforcement tightens around problem properties.
