@clpolk @worldbuildcast TTRPG with a friend, hoping to publish it and make continuous content for it focusing on story elements and creating an engaging world with a myriad of different peoples and cultures whose histories and calamitous events become campaign adventures.
@dmIreneDB @DraethDarkstar I fully agree with using real artists. We've been working closely with a single artist so far for character, people, and equipment elements. When we get to needing landscapes/vistas/dungeon art, we have some AI generations for reference, but that's all they're for.
@dmIreneDB Though when you get into stuff like regeneration, revivification, and other restoration magic we just hand waived that (for now) because it got ableist VERY QUICKLY. So I'm writing a short magic primer and the importance of Self Image within that "intent"
@dmIreneDB Myself and my co-designer have thoughtfully gone down this rabbit hole. We've decided an intent/ interpreted-intent based on what the spell can actually do. A cure spell heals bleeding and does so by closing a wound, simple as that.
@ohadelaide My friend and I are trying! Lol.
We don't use AC and we've given every spellcaster class their own unique spell list (1000+ spells across them). We've also revised the "standard" classes to be much more robust. We're in the middle of creating our first campaign for it! So excited
Well, we are still deep in testing mechanics and getting our Classes where we want them. But little by little we are ticking off the "Finished" boxes. 10/13 Classes are as such: Anchorite, Berserker, Druid, Kenai, Mioura, Necromancer, Paladin, Rogue, Skald, and Warrior.
@DrewDwarves@thecaradee The DnD community is one of the most inclusive communities I have seen and it's amazing to be a part of it. I hope you all have a ton of fun with the club! 💚
@thecaradee This absolutely sucks. I'd like to purchase a book for your club if there's anything else you need? Feel free to DM me. I hate seeing scammers win.
@BrandonGameDev Something I've found that helps is start taking too myself about what I like about the game to myself. Most of the time I get myself hyped up
@BrouhahaGames @BrandonGameDev I'm not saying it will happen, but it could and you could lose a personal part of your game and it will suck. Pay the $35-$55, submit your work, you can still make changes, get the law on your side. That's all I'm saying.
@BrouhahaGames @BrandonGameDev That's all true. Mechanics aren't protected. But there are some things as a dev that you can copyright. And someone was mean spirited enough to submit my friend's work and even informed her they did it simply because they could.
@BrouhahaGames @BrandonGameDev If a dev wants to publish something they have options. Either release it to public domain and relinquish personal ownership of it, or copyright it yourself. After you get your copyrights, show it to the world. Getting a copyright is a painless process, just takes time
@BrandonGameDev I don't know if it has since been expanded upon, but that was a little terrifying to me when I was looking into copyright protections.
Aside from that, enjoy making it as unique/fantabulous/serious/grimdark/magical as you want. "Fall in love with your work"
@BrandonGameDev Hold onto it, show and test with small groups, don't let anyone keep anything unless you have the copyright. Supreme Court last year, I think, ruled that you have no legal protections on your work until you have that copyright.
