@LMFMRADIO@Toibin1@AontuIE But yet the points for medicine is through the roof. How many medical school places are there for students that attend an Irish secondary school each year?
@AnMailleach@danobrien20 Phones with no smart phone features is the way to go, used for a call or text only. Ban on Smart Phone under 16 across the board. Smart phone terrible distraction for teens and the developing brain.
@adriancummins You have our full support on this. Our 2 indigenous industries of farming and tourism should be protected and supported. This Government’s actions appear to be anti both. They know damn well the harm they are causing to both industries by their inaction.
@adriancummins And if the worker only knew, their wages are being increased to what end? How much do they actually get of that €1 after the Government take their cut? So anti small business and so clear now that they have no notion of helping small businesses.
@adriancummins@fiannafailparty If the Restaurant Association doesn’t get a handle on the lack of chefs in ireland quickly, this will be the least of your worries! Can’t believe so little being done about it. Not like it’s a recent problem!
@adriancummins Are there any solutions being suggested? All I see are the problems being presented. Loads of South African Chefs delighted to come over and work here, but no fast track visas to get them in quickly and solve the issue. A little less conversation, a little more action please.
@Paschald A lot of work needed in the hospitality sector in regards to recruiting staff before it collapses. Haven’t seen any efforts here at all, surprising, given it’s one of our major indigenous industries.
@FergalBowers@Toibin1@rte The life was scared out of people day in, day our by RTE and it’s ilk. Can’t be easy to live with this on one’s conscience, having played a role in what we are seeing now and the chance of early diagnosis and a good prognosis lost for people that could have been saved.
@adriancummins@rte @TodaywithClaire @RTERadio1 Like if no other more troubling issues affecting hospitality like no creative ideas of how to fix the staffing issues but yes let’s be worrying about calories on menus on the one occasion in a week we might eat out because sure that’s what’s causing obesity.
@adriancummins@rte Amazing this conversation still happening where visas could be fast tracked and solutions found. We see that this can be done with other issues, however our domestic economy and services don’t seem to be a priority for some reason.
@mistereatgalway@adriancummins If hospitality keeps going the way it is with lack of staff, places will close but very soon there will lots of employees and no employers! It’s not that easy to set up and run a business and keep it open. It’s an employees market right now but that will be short lived!
In 2019 pre COVID
268,500 employees worked in Hospitality & Tourism within Ireland 🇮🇪
1 in 7 jobs nationally
For those that continue to bash & demonise a sector economically flattened during COVID which is trying to rebuild its workforce …
For once, wear the green jersey
