50 years ago yesterday the Texas Tech SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR, Ralph Carpenter said near the end of a Texas Tech v A&M basketball game as the Aggies went ahead. ITS NOT OVER UNTIL THE FAT LADY SINGS”. The rest is history. Texas Tech 74 A&M 72. That saying is used all over the world every day in all kinds of sporting events.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
— J.R.R. Tolkien
Reverend Jesse Jackson called on each of us to be heralds of change, to be messengers of hope; to step forward and say “Send me” wherever we have a chance to make an impact.
How fortunate we were that Jesse Jackson answered that call. What a great debt we owe to him.
Last night, no candidate secured a majority in #TX33, so this race continues. I’m grateful to every voter, volunteer, and supporter who showed up and put in the work.
Some people thought this race would be decided outright last night. Instead, we forced a runoff with a candidate with statewide name recognition and a significant financial advantage.
That says something important: voters are looking closely, and they’re making up their own minds about our records. They want real, tangible solutions to bring down costs, create housing opportunities, and protect due process from ICE lawlessness. And they want fighters who stand firm in their values, not someone who suddenly finds new ones when it suits their ambitions.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this effort so far. We’re going to keep showing up, keep doing the work, and take this campaign all the way to the finish line. #ImWithJulie
WE DID IT! I want to thank an incredible Candidate @jamestalarico and this unbelievable hardworking staff who never doubted this campaign! I love you all and now to Nov!
I’ve been doing election day for a long time, especially in my home state of Texas! Today is when all this staff’s hard work pays off. Let’s do this! @TeamTalaricoHQ
A 19-year-old Texas Tech student was killed in the shooting that unfolded just outside of a popular beer garden in downtown Austin that also left 14 others injured. https://t.co/34zvTa0u48
Ryder Harrington was murdered in Austin by a terrorist. Ryder was an outstanding young man. I’ve talked to several people who knew him and everyone had nothing but praise for him and his character. May he rest in peace! Pray for his family.
We know someone who lost a brother in this horrific shooting last night and ask you to please pray for them and all those impacted.
Lord, be near the brokenhearted. Bring comfort, peace, & strength to all grieving this horrific tragedy & loss. Hold them fast in Your love. 🙏🏼💔
For those asking how to support Ryan, Avery, and the entire Harrington family as they process the unbearable loss of Ryder, a gofundme has been set up by his fraternity brothers. But more than anything, please keep them in your prayers. 🙏🏼 #austin#txlege

40 years ago today, we lost seven heroes aboard Challenger. As an astronaut who commanded the space shuttle after this tragedy, I think about them often. Their courage pushed the boundaries of exploration. Today, we remember their sacrifice and the legacy they left behind.
OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL: Six former @TexasTechFB players say they made a pact - get matching Double T tattoos if the team wins the Big 12 Championship game.
And this week they made good on that pact.
I just love this because there's a first time for everything...even at 74!
