Truth is the immutable reality shared by us all. What we each think we know about reality is but a model of reality built in our minds, an approximation of reality which has genetic predispositions, and is continually formed and reformed as our minds develop starting as early as in the womb. These models of reality can only ever be an approximation of THE reality, for we can never have in our minds an exact replication of reality. What we know, is only what we think we know, for knowing is never a perfect understanding. All of the physicality of the cosmos is a specific ordering of atoms changing their positions in increments of Planck time-distance. Or, at least that is a workable model that helps us to understand reality. When someone teaches a student, that is like making a copy of the model existing in the teacher’s mind into the student’s mind. Language is a tool, whether mathematical or linguistic, to help us replicate models, and inform other’s models with data upon which to operate. Indeed, just reading and comprehending this text right now is a copying of this understanding of models from the author’s mind to the reader’s. This is, one might say, a metamodel. As a proof, it is doubtable that anyone reading this text could replicate it exactly, word for word as written, from memory. You are creating an understanding of the knowledge of models in your mind formed roughly by this text’s description of it. It’s a model of philosophy of epistemology. How do we know things? The primal model is understanding that any learning is an ever ongoing construction project of making a working model, or providing data to a model, of a real system. Those models will never perfectly represent the real world, and at best, only will, as refined iteratively, asymptotically approach reality. The model building process is never done without presuppositions and biases. The biggest presupposition, and not one we typically think of, is that we can actually know things, albeit approximately know things, as we are currently discovering. A bias might be anything that we desire to be true influencing our model of reality, but really does not have correspondence with reality. Of course, it could also be lies that we’ve been told, whether intentional or unintentional that we would prefer to believe over other evidence. And now we come to the model-building model. The model-building model is very fickle and is corrupted by the will, emotions, and base desires. Cultures are the best examples of model transference. Much of our behavior is a product of our culture. These societal models are integrated with and modified by our base, or animal nature. That nature desires supremacy and satisfaction of physical wants and needs.
Once one sees that they, themselves are an assembly, an amalgam of catastrophically flawed models of the world, they are free, for that is truth.
@BasedTorba If you haven’t used https://t.co/SmV2nLcuhX lately, then know that it is my primary driver. I switched from a long time anthropic engagement.
This is the Kaaba in Mecca in 1880.
Islam’s holiest monument stood, until recently, in the middle of a settlement made of mud and stone.
What is called the Islamic Golden Age was simply the work of conquered peoples, Persians, Christians, Jews, Greeks, and others, whose achievements were claimed as Islamic simply because they lived under Muslim rule.
You couldn’t handle this better as an athlete. I hope more athletes step in to back her up now. She hit this out of the ballpark. Thank you @sophaller!
@CitizenVMovie Puzzled by the glowing reception of an ignominious trope. Love justice, hate evil. If the writing is horrifically bad, the editing is much worse. And what’s with the porn, carnality as exploitation of females? Move along.
Brother, you know we don’t fit in this world, therefore it must readily adopt our template, though that must fail. A futile effort, nay, for we illuminate beauty with hope of seeded yearning stirred.
If you are not looking for beauty, it won’t find you.
Jesus said to say this to Father, “Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” For two to marry requires both to agree, both wills choosing to join in covenant. Either can refuse, but God is always willing to choose those who would choose him, and He gives them every last chance.
@dangambardello Dan, give it to Jesus Christ. They are attacking a caricature of you, an imagined simulacrum of who you really are. Put that guy, that image, in the corner and let him take the abuse. It’s not you.
