Governor Maura Healey (D) wants Massachusetts voters to remember that she is a former attorney general who “prosecuted and put away bad guys. Drug traffickers, human traffickers.”

Meanwhile, a Healey staffer is facing drug-trafficking charges, and the state somehow managed to mistakenly pay him $30,000 of taxpayer money after he was fired.

You cannot script this level of government incompetence.

Healey campaigns as the tough former prosecutor while the government she runs apparently cannot even prevent a fired employee facing serious criminal charges from receiving an erroneous taxpayer-funded payout.

Massachusetts does not have an accountability problem because taxpayers are not paying enough.

It has an accountability problem because one-party government has become so insulated from consequences that even spectacular failures are treated like routine administrative errors,

And Healey wants four more years.

The contrast in the Massachusetts governor’s race could not be more revealing.

The current Governor, Maura Healey (D), stood before voters and offered virtually no defense of her record. Instead, she screamed about Donald Trump, smeared PragerU as “anti-gay racist propaganda,” and portrayed anyone who disagrees with her as racist, anti-gay, extremist, and dangerous.

Mike Minogue (R) thanked God, his family, veterans, teachers, nurses, fishermen, small-business owners, and the people who supported his opponents.

Healey screamed about Trump.

Minogue talked about affordable housing, better schools, lower energy costs, safer communities, accountable government, ending sanctuary-state policies, and dismantling the one-party system that has made Massachusetts unaffordable.

Healey offered fear, division, and recycled political smears.

Minogue offered service, gratitude, accountability, and a message to people who did not vote for him... “You have a home here. You are welcome here.”

One candidate believes Massachusetts belongs to the Democratic establishment.

The other believes it belongs to the people who live, work, raise families, and pay taxes there.

That is the choice in November.

The 80s isn’t a decade. It’s an American cultural phenomenon that began in 1983 and ended on September 24, 1991, when Nevermind was released.

It was a period of unbridled optimism and glorious excess. Just look at the music, movies, fashion, cars. It was a vibe.

Of course bad things happened. Bad things always happen.

But nobody walked around talking about “socio-political issues.” Algorithms didn’t feed us rage bait 24/7.

There was enough technology, but not too much.

There were no cell phones. (I have no idea how we got around.)

We listened to radio and bought albums on cassettes. We read newspapers.

Kids disappeared on their bikes all day.

Malls were packed and local economies thrived.

It was the high-water mark for human civilization.

No social-media rage farming. The Miracle on Ice kicked off the decade, and the Berlin Wall and communism came crashing down at the end. Reagan putting up monster GDP growth numbers. Pre-woke MTV. Indiana Jones. No men in women’s bathrooms. And much, much more.
