Tite Kubo, in a new interview, discussed how he began drawing rough storyboards himself when contributing ideas for new scenes in the 'BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War' anime:

"I initially try to write things out, but it's difficult to understand that way, and there ends up being a lot of text. I found that drawing it as a rough storyboard was easier to understand, and it was easier for me as well, so I started doing that.

When I first started, I wondered if I shouldn't do it because it might feel like I was taking away from the anime team's storyboard work. But after I drew one and they were really happy with it, I thought, 'Ah, I guess it's okay for me to do this,' and I've been doing it fairly often ever since."
