Takeaway: "hidden" chain-of-thought isn't the same as "secure" chain-of-thought. Expect labs to patch this fast — this is the kind of finding that quietly reshapes how reasoning models get shipped. 📄 https://t.co/nLvBSFLEdu
AI labs hide the "thinking" of their reasoning models (o-series, Gemini, etc.) — you only see a summary, not the raw chain-of-thought. Turns out that's not as locked down as everyone assumed. New paper: EchoCoT.
4/5 Why it matters: that hidden reasoning is expensive IP (built via RL) AND a safety layer (labs monitor raw CoT for deceptive/unsafe behavior). If it can be scraped via API, both the business moat and the safety net are leakier than assumed.
It has already been a year since you left us
May you rest in peace my friend
Chess won't forget your legacy @GmNaroditsky
Thank you @CLTchesscenter for organizing this event
🇺🇸 Hans Niemann on Endgame AI's runner-up finish at the FIDE World Team Blitz Championship:
"You should not say how does victory feel, we just lost the final. But we did very well and I'm very proud of the team. Dragon Chilling was just too strong and they showed a very dominant and well-deserved performance."
"We were sixth in the Rapid and second here, so I'm very happy. Maybe people considered us underdogs compared to other teams, but I'm glad we proved them wrong."
"It's quite rare in chess to have this team environment. This was a very fun experience, and Hong Kong was an incredibly unique venue. They did a great job, the final day had a great atmosphere and so many fans. It's great to see the energy and enthusiasm for chess throughout the world."
Anthropic CEO: "It is absolutely wild that people are talking about the same tired political issues, when we are near the end of the AI exponential."
Dario Amodei spent 10 minutes explaining why almost nobody sees it.
here's what he covers:
> in 2017 he predicted exactly where AI would be today. he was right.
> models went from "smart high school student" to "PhD-level work" step by step as planned.
> the progress has not slowed down, not even close.
> none of this surprised him, what surprised him is that nobody else sees it.
the world is still focused on everything else.
new episodes, memes, celebrity beef, election news..
meanwhile the most important thing happening right now goes unnoticed.
this is not a slow shift, it never was.
the people who understand this early and actually start using these tools properly are going to be in a completely different position than everyone else, that gap is already opening.
the guide on how to be on the right side of it is in the article below.
