First, fiction is not useless. Stories teach life without preaching. You see how people think, love, fail, lie, heal, and grow.

That is human growth. If you think growth only comes from self help books, you are limiting yourself.

Second, fiction builds the mind. It sharpens focus, deepens thinking, and grows empathy.

When you read a story, you enter another life. You can know everything about the culture of Londoners without being in the UK.

You learn how people feel, not just what they do. That skill helps in real life, work, love, and friendships.

Also, many lessons people quote today came from fiction. Ideas about courage, power, pride, fear, justice, and love came from novels, not manuals.

Even movies he looks down on are often based on books.
