@StandardGrain@YouTube If you let the cattle population erode as it is today, Brazil could eventually take over this industry like they have the soybean. I’m not saying that government involvement is the answer, but the markets don’t seem to be making a difference yet. Lot of balls in the air on this.
My dear faculty colleague in Animal Science, Dr. Jim Oltjen, who as chair of the search committee at @ucdavis that hired me some 23 yrs ago, is now retiring. Today, I had the pleasure to entertain his “exit interview”. Sad to see him go but wishing him all the best!
The current economic situation is very reminiscent of the late 1970s. Build liquidity to proactively manage for the classic financial flip.

Congratulations Michael Oltjen of Brown Co. for submitting the 1st place entry in the NNE conventional till division of the yield contest. The @GldnHarvest GH3728X beans yielded 97.10 bu/acre & were planted April 27 in 15” rows at a seeding rate of 146k. @moltjen
Easiest question you’ll be asked all week. Which plant do you want? Same variety, same row width(30”)same population drop(110k) & same management. What’s different? The plant in my right hand is from April 27 planting date. The plant in my left is my ultra early planting trial.
