"There's many threats on journalism at the moment"
In honour of her late husband, Tina Brown has set up Truth Tellers, the inaugural Sir Harry Evans Global Summit.
The former Vanity Fair editor tells @MarthaKearney about the importance of investigative journalism.
#R4Today
Tina Brown opens today’s Truth Tellers #sirharrysummit by saying it is a counter summit to the mood around the current rounds of cuts going on at many newsrooms. “Serious journalism is under threat” from bullying lawsuits, AI, and more, she also says
"Our voice, our words, our camera are more powerful than their weapon." – @AlinejadMasih on why Iranian women will not cease in their fight for freedom at @sirharrysummit.

After covering the devastating impact of the Grenfell fire for years, I truly hope this signals a change from government. Leaseholders trapped in dangerous buildings need and deserve help. See more @skynews @RidgeOnSunday
The vast majority of income tax payers will now be paying more tax as a result of the measures since 2021-22.
However, cutting the additional rate means those with incomes over £155k will now pay less tax overall.

🧵RISING INTEREST RATES ARE A BIGGER DEAL THAN YOU MIGHT THINK🧵
This is important (hence the caps).
I’m a bit worried people are being WAY too complacent about rising interest rates.
They assume that because they’re so low now vs the 1990s, this’ll be a walk in the park.
NO.
First day nerves!! No longer a journalist (although do you ever stop being one??) Excited to be starting a new role as a leadership coach for Edelman. A new chapter begins! 😬🙌🏻
Why is nothing changing for leaseholders like @SophieLB1?? 9 months since I interviewed Sophie her situation is still the same... if not worse. Despite promises of help. A young girl, first time buyer now saddled with a £208k bill through no fault of her own.
1st anniversary of getting my £208k #BuildingSafetyCrisis bill yesterday. What's new?
▶️ Still have the bill in my name
▶️ Building is not safe
▶️ No plan to remediate
▶️ Freeholder @railpen not signing gov funding agreement
▶️ 73 Leaseholders unable to move on

Leicester space centre played an important role in the build of the James Webb telescope, providing the Mid-InfraRed instrument which takes clearer pictures of dust and clouds, where stars are born. Here is a scale model. The real one was sent to the US in 2012.
Just interviewed research associate Charly Feldman @CharlyFeldman84 She explains how excited everyone is to see more images, how the telescope may provide information about other planets and potentially other life… and how she has a particular love for shoes
I’m at the Leicester Space centre as they get ready to see the latest images unveiled from the James Webb Telescope. 80 members of the public will grab a seat and watch the live feed from Nasa with expert analysis from scientists
The public rightly expect government to be conducted properly, competently and seriously.
I recognise this may be my last ministerial job, but I believe these standards are worth fighting for and that is why I am resigning.
My letter to the Prime Minister below.
Report from today at the Grenfell Inquiry:
Government was “enslaved to a deregulatory agenda” with “wilful blindness and complacency” resulting in more than 13 missed opportunities to tighten a critical fire safety standards in the years before the fire
