Labour cannot defeat Reform by chasing Reform.
We have to return to the values we were founded on: standing up for working people, tackling inequality and injustice, investing in public services, and improving living standards.
If we get this wrong, the danger of Farage and his Trump-style politics entering Downing Street is real.

“It is essential that Labour abandons the failed strategy, pushed by figures like Peter Mandelson and Morgan McSweeney, of trying to out-Reform Reform.”
@RichardBurgon on the change of direction Labour needs to take to win back trust. 💯👇

I have tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament calling again for an independent inquiry into Labour Together. It’s beyond time that the truth needs to come out about the role this faction has played.

Labour doesn’t just need a new leader but a new direction.
Labour must ditch the disastrous strategy of trying to “out-Reform” Reform.
And instead deliver real Labour policies to win back the progressive voters who’ve abandoned our party.

This Saturday, the Palestine Coalition will hold the annual Nakba demonstration - but on the same day Tommy Robinson is bringing fascist and far-right forces to London.
We must turn out in big numbers against them.

“It is essential that Labour abandons the failed strategy, pushed by figures like Peter Mandelson and Morgan McSweeney, of trying to out-Reform Reform.”
@RichardBurgon shows why Labour needs a complete change of direction, not just a new leader.

The McSweeney/Starmer strategy was for Labour to out-reform Reform and treat progressive voters with contempt.
We warned this would smash up Labour's voter coalition - and let Reform in.
New polling shows that's what happened last week.
Labour's vote "disproportionately stayed at home or went to another left party."
Reform wants to slash public services, cut workers' rights and give tax breaks to the super-rich – while scapegoating migrants to divide us.
They're getting away with it because Labour has failed to improve people’s lives.

Apart from Wes Streeting, nobody wants to be bounced into a precipitous leadership election without the time to build consensus over the timing & a truly democratic process. The NEC has a responsibility now to us all to prevent this hijack & insist on a proper timescale & process
These results show once again that pitching right in response to far-right electoral threats, only serve to benefit far-right parties themselves.

NEC member @GemBolton has warned of the consequences of alienating Labour members and voters- which have been shown in the results in London and across Britain this week.
You can hear from her as part of this online event tomorrow looking at next steps: https://t.co/qclk49cp8j
Really looking forward to speaking at this on Monday alongside other socialist MPs and trade union leaders.
I’ll be looking at the bold policies Labour needs to win back support and to stop Nigel Farage getting the keys to No 10.

As election results stack up, there is a clear desire for the change that people in London & across the country hoped would follow the end of Tory rule- join @PCS_Union GS @FranHeathcote at Monday's online event hosted by the @TUCGinfo & @Arise_Festival: https://t.co/qclk49cp8j
These results make one thing clear: Keir Starmer has fought his last election as Labour leader.
We now need a timetable for an orderly transition to a new leader by the end of this year.
This could not be more serious. It's about stopping Farage entering No.10
My new article👇
There is no denying that these election results are going to be very bad for Labour.
Yes, Keir Starmer is very unpopular.
But it is the policies that drive that unpopularity.
Simply changing the leader without changing the policies will not avert disaster in 2029.
