Official Newsletter of @CopticDiocese of #London under care of @BishopAngaelos "You are the light of the world, a city set on a hill cannot be hidden" Matt 5:14
Take a look at our very first issue of 'The Lampstand' from the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of London @CopticDiocese under the care of His Eminence Archbishop Angaelos, Coptic Orthodox Archbishop of London @BishopAngaelos View online via https://t.co/KkoKlma5iC
A wonderful day at @CopticCentreUK today to celebrate the Eighth Anniversary of the establishment of @CopticDiocese:
▪️ Started with a beautiful Divine Liturgy with the clergy and laity of the Diocese at @CopticCathedral,
▪️Then a deeply enlightening lecture on the Council of Nicaea and the role of Saint Athanasius by @FrJohnBehr, highlighting the transformative and liberating role of the Incarnation for all humankind.
▪️During the break, there was an opportunity for those there to visit the stalls prepared by @CopticYouthUK, @UK_COAT, @ExodusYWUK and @CoptCityMission and see their remarkable work, particularly during this 25th anniversary of their establishment.
▪️This was followed by a highly charged football football game between the clergy of the Diocese that showcased agility, skill, sportsmanship, and wonderful Fellowship. Like any good game it went to penalties, and I found great enjoyment in using my yellow and red cards, and VAR.
▪️Finally, and as with any good celebration, I was assisted by our wonderful children in the cutting a beautifully prepared and presented cake to mark the occasion.
All in all, a wonderfully joyous day that makes me more and more thankful for this ministry and for everyone who contributes to and enriches it on a day-to-day basis
Grateful to be joined by members of Parliament, ecumenical friends, advocates, representatives of civil society and and our Coptic Orthodox community and clergy at St Margaret’s, @wabbey, for our annual #Nayrouz celebration. A time to remember those who gave their lives for their Faith, to celebrate the joyful witness to enduring hope and strength of the #CopticOrthodox Church, as to welcome a new year of fellowship and collaboration for millions around the world.
Special thanks must go to the incredible vergers and security team of Westminster Abbey and our own @CopticDiocese staff and army of volunteers for all they did to make this evening a wonderfully joyous occasion.
My statement on #Paris2024#OpeningCeremony https://t.co/D6h2et9pSh released earlier today. Thankful that the organisers have now issued an apology and there is further official clarification on the matter, addressing the points raised by so many.

Please to be taking part in this next week at @SouthwarkCathed, especially as an Ecumenical Canon of the cathedral, with a number of our @CopticDiocese clergy and laity. Hope to see all those there with an interest in Orthodox Christianity, as well as those who are curious.
Then to Essex and our Bethel Centre for a residential retreat of the @CopticDiocese Mission and Evangelism Ministry team with @FrDaoudLamei, and time to reflect on the challenges and opportunities of ministering to a constantly changing world.

New take on an old incident. Poor #StThomas!
Thomas was honest and outspoken in his doubt, but he was even more-so in his belief when he immediately proclaimed “My Lord and my God!” We may all at times be similarly prone to doubt, and must be equally ready to proclaim #TheTruth.
Wonderful to have a leisurely Easter Sunday catch-up with those who have worked SO hard over the past weeks: our @CopticDiocese Clergy, Digital Platforms Team, Emergency Response Group and
@CopticYouthUK Joint Youth Committee
Who thought isolation would be make is so connected?
“And God said...’I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth....when I bring a cloud over the earth, the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud’” Gen9:12-14
So wonderful that the rainbow is once more used as the sign of #hope
The Fifth Sunday of Lent:
The paralysed man healed.
Today’s sermon:

No one should ever feel alone or unsupported, and so we must intentionally seek out the most vulnerable and ask how we can help. In doing this, we follow in the footsteps of our Lord.
It is amazing that because of this physical separation, we have been able to build a veritable web of groups across our @CopticDiocese virtual platform, through which I have just attended a wonderful online #MidnightPraise#Tasbeha with @FatherShenouda and the @StGeorgeUK parish!
Join me and many across the UK as we #ClapForOurCarers tonight at 8pm, to recognise and give thanks for our #NHSHeroes, their selflessness and commitment, and their daily personal sacrifice.
We will be letting our #StGeorge@CopticCathedral bells ‘clap’ in their own way!
#LentJourney2020 Day14
“Jesus said ‘Away with you Satan! For it is written “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.”’
Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him Mat4:10-11
Once we make a stand, we are never left alone!
#LentJourney2020 Day1
