Here's what I'll say now that I think I've gotten it out of my system with the egregious holding call on Darnell.
The Bears have to start showing some backbone in the face of adversity. Every man has a plan until they get hit in the mouth.
They were in complete control of that game for 3 quarters. But one bad hold and this team immediately crumbles in all 3 phases.
Caleb takes an intentional grounding.
Cairo misses the field goal.
Defense starts getting gashed.
All in the blink of an eye.
The whole sequence was a microcosm of last year. Meaning, last year, they were about to go 5-2 on the season. One bad thing goes wrong (the hail mary) and the team proceeds to lose 10 games in a row.
It's a new coaching staff and they deserve grace. But these players have GOT to be tougher.
