I think we should take a moment to remember Gauri Lankesh, MM Kalburgi, and Narendra Dabholkar, all of whom
were murdered by the Hindu Right, for sacrificing their lives for a pluralistic, secular India
let us not forget
the opposition was fighting this election with one hand tied behind their back, both legs chained to the ground inside a deep dark hole, with a sack over their heads.
they literally crawled out with one hand.
As always, it has fallen on farmers, the rural poor, the marginalised, oppressed caste groups, and the working classes, to save democracy in #India. #IndiaElections2024
Before anyone points fingers, let me say this.
This result is *despite* the EC, who:
- tailored phases for Modi's campaign
- Let obvious hate speech from the BJP go
- Let MCC violations of the BJP go
- Still don't have a watertight mechanism to check EVM manipulation.
Engineer Rashid currently in Jail wins from Baramulla, Kashmir. He was the librarian of Jail 4. Mr. Rasheed was very very helpful to me during my stay in jail. He would convey my messages to my Lawyer and to family whenever I was taken from one district of UP to another, This is when I was not allowed to speak to them. He would regularly come down my ward to enquire about me almost every 2 days. So so happy for Mr. Rashid.
While celebrating the BJP's defeat in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh...the people of this country should b extremely thankful to the Farmers' Protests which stood their ground across all seasons & sacrifice of more than 1000 farmers at this point. We owe it to them!!!
What we need badly now in this country is media that will stop being hagiographical and not allow the government to function uncritical. People protesting on roads are not 'trouble makers' and 'anti-nationals' as you often dismiss them, they are real people with real troubles.
@sharanvkaur Wanted to add, we have a very fluid parenting, contact naps, nurse on demand and cosleep. So unless there is major upheaval, we don't bother about it much
@sharanvkaur Not for me, tried with my no1. He was always hungry, always cranky.
With #2, now 6mo, i do notice some periods where he drinks like crazy amd others where he would rather sleep, but never had to track it much.
And it is vital to note that in 2023 (almost 2024) a lot of gen z in India are
1. Openly transphobic
2. Openly homophobic
3. Cannot handle a woman who has a deepish voice.
The toxic masculinity and unprovoked abuse in the comments is horrible, but not surprising
BTW, people in Gaza would have never accepted to record their death! Their cut bodies!, to shoot them crying, screaming, helpless and homeless, and lost between pain and rubble, but they tried to show the world with some hope that anything would change, but they were failed.
@RichDecibels In the short term, drastically changing my life. From haircuts to changing jobs to changing countries.
In the long term, routines and predictability in life, practising gratitude, identifying anxiety triggers, boundaries with people who trigger that anxiety. Making peace.
