@Sughammer You should read Gundam: The Origin. It’s a manga done by the guy who did the storyboards of the original Gundam anime run in the late 70’s. For me this is the definitive Gundam. It captures its essence before it became a toy business. You’re sick and at home. perfect time.

@Grummz @warhammer The custodes and SOS are meant to be a mirror to the real life bodyguard units that dictators have (think Gaddafi). Making them more inclusive runs contrary to essence of 40k. We need to discern between inclusivity in the real world and inclusivity in game. Different things.

@alt_world I get that the “lore” is that there is a certain degree of unreliability because it is a vast galaxy. But I don’t agree with the nihilistic implication that there is no canon.

@Grummz @warhammer I keep hearing the argument that “lore is constantly changing” and “why do you care”. Bad lore is bad lore. Guaranteed if the shoe were on the other foot and Guilliman suddenly banned pink coloured marines, the argument that “lore changes” wouldn’t cut it.

What worries the most is that GW have a team that vets lore and ensures consistency. This change getting through means that the team their values “modern inclusivity” more than the actual 40k lore. Be nice in the real world - not in the lore. #Custodes #warhammer40k

Female custodes is a bad retcon because it thematically goes against the grain of the setting. The imperium is an authoritarian theocracy. Having sex segregated institutions at the highest echelons of the imperium tracks logically because we see this in religions around the world

Don’t get me wrong. I relish the dumb 40k memes. But if GW tomorrow made the Guilliman/ Yvraine ship canon, I think most discerning fans would understand this is stupid and out of place. I get the same feeling with femtodes.
