It really does seem to be a bumper cuckoo flower year. A huge patch on the north side of the willow cathedral is coming into flower now.

Insects to the fore in the sun @LongrunMeadow today. Birds seen included 2 late redpoll, willow warblers, treecreeper, yaffle & a solitary low-flying swallow.
A pair of flighty great spotted woodpeckers @LongrunMeadow this morning. Single singing willow warbler & blackcap, a handful of vocal chiffchaff, and a Cetti’s warbler pumping up the volume from across the river.
