Today we had a live author session with Axel Scheffler who read us 2 stories and our favourite was Zog. We were then shown how to draw Puss in Boots and Zog. The children were very excited and again produced some amazing pictures. Here are just a few of them. @LongshawAcademy
Year 1 have enjoyed taking part in some live listen and draw along with the author sessions. The 1st was for a book called 'One goose two moose'. The children listened to the story and then drew their own pictures following the authors directions. @LongshawAcademy
The children in Year 1 have been thinking about the artist Charles McGee. They have created their own 3D paper sculptures using using only black and white. What do you think? @LongshawAcademy
In maths this week we have been learning about 3D shapes and their properties. We enjoyed exploring the shapes and finding out which shapes are the best for building with and why. @LongshawAcademy
This week in English we have been looking at non-fiction books. We took a visit to the school library to see what features we could find in the books in the non-fiction section. @LongshawAcademy
In maths this week we have been working with our partner to solve more and less problems. The children were told how many sweets Mo had. They they needed to work out how many the other children had from the clues they were given. @LongshawAcademy
Today we have been thinking about the story of Beegu and we have drawn story maps. Next week we will be writing our own version of the story. @LongshawAcademy
Year 1 have started a new unit in Computing all about creating an e-book. Today the children made up their main characters and wrote the start of their story. I can’t wait to read them when they are finished. @LongshawAcademy@MissPura1
Well what a brilliant day we have had in Year 1 making crowns and key rings. This morning I was given this by Zahra who had made it at home and was very excited to tell me all about the Kings coronation at the weekend. @LongshawAcademy

Wow what an amazing careers week Longshaw have had. We started the week with dressing up in our career aspirations, learnt about eco/green careers on Tuesday and then ended with brilliant careers talks on Thursday. @LongshawAcademy
Don’t forgot on Monday 27th March we will be holding our career aspirations day. The children from Nursery up to Year 6 have been asked to come into school dressed in an outfit highlighting the profession they would like to work in when they are older. @LongshawAcademy
RH read a story about a chick buying things on the internet. He also tried to find friends online. They discussed how sometimes people don’t always tell the truth about themselves online and we should check with adults when making friends online. @LongshawAcademy@OmurtakYasmin
Year 3 have been thinking about how to stay safe online and I have to say I was very impressed with their answers. They have decided to share their knowledge with the younger children in the school. I cant wait to see their information booklets later. @LongshawAcademy
