Don't fall for someone's potential; literally EVERYONE has potential to be a good person. You'll inevitably be disappointed to learn that their potential, and that idea you built of them, don't exist in real life.
Some more reminders as we go into the new year:
That "good side" of a person is a mask. That's how abusers trap victims; they show their "good side" to convince them to not believe who they really are. No successful abuser is 100% abusive, otherwise they wouldnt keep anyone.
Friendly reminder that boundaries are not about other people, but are your own responses to things you won't tolerate.
Saying "don't do this" is not a boundary.
"I don't like when you do this" is also not a boundary.
Saying "I will leave if you do this" IS a boundary.
People can and will do whatever they want, and as long as they want to, you can't change it. No matter how close they are to you, that doesn't mean that you have to tolerate it, nor are they owed continued access to you.
Boomers: don't believe everything you see on the Internet.
Also Boomers: I don't care if she's a scammer. She's beautiful and I want to give everything to her.
