my Muslim brothers and sisters
at the end of the day remember what we are here for
money is just a tool
help your family, friends, donate to charity and impact the world
don’t destroy yourself for the dunya
we all want to make it out
@ismaeljimenezg my argument isn’t for NFTs as I mentioned, I’m pointing out the differences — the normies aren’t the ones that drive the price up that high so little impact imo
i understand people are upset at this because im comparing digital monkeys to one of the most popular brands, but objectively i am talking about asset prices; pros and cons
pokemon:
- larger & more established collector base
- decades of brand recognition
- centralised and subjective grading
- can be damaged or lost
- more illiquid
nfts:
- transparent & verifiable on-chain supply
- rich digital people want to buy digital assets
- no physical condition or grading issues
- better liquidity
- not as much history as pokemon hence less staying power
both assets are different, collectibles have existed forever but pokemon mooned in value *after* nft market died
to learn from the nft market you have to take out personal bias, both can be true: pokemon will stay and have value & asset prices need to relax
as someone who was deep in the nft market and saw the rise and fall, pokemon is at a state closer to the fall than the rise imo
no one loses money taking profits!
the way I look at Pokémon cards right now is NFTs in 2022
reason for them going up makes sense (rich people want og collectibles) as did nfts (rich people who made made digital money want collectibles)
it’s just it turns into a bubble eventually where price exceeds desire
@javierbh522@k8sified@onchainmo no, you lose more because the decision to not pay tax is dumb as unless you carefully act like this from the start you have some on chain connection to yourself (or will do when you want to spend)
smart people pay their taxes, or just move somewhere else
assume crypto trader makes ~$5M in liquid profits US first time
he hit it big, let’s assume he’s lucky and takes 80% of that straight out: ~$4M
tax is 50% ~$2.5M taken
spending let’s say ~$500K within that year, enjoying his life, treating family, etc
$2M left assuming he doesn’t lose that money in crypto
people really underestimate how much money they need to make post tax
people taking this $500k/yr spending as excessive when I’m talking about one time costs in the first year they make $5M
so they’d buy a house, car, go on holidays etc and that’s 10%! reasonable in this case
Everyone is always rooting for you. Your parents want you to be a great son. Wife wants you to be a great husband. Your boss wants you to be a slam dunk hire. Every first date you’ve ever been on they’ve been rooting for you to get laid. Every time you started to tell a joke people hoped it would have a hilarious punch line. Your proximity to anyone is a reflection of themself, meaning the deck is never stacked against you, and your failures are completely your own
@osf_rekt do you think it goes backwards?
like you can argue it gets dumber each cycle (memecoins we chucked it all out of the window) but existing coins have worked
so the narrative stays dumb (or gets dumber) but privacy/ai/etc still works - just not as hype
not replacing it
i created my account with no face, voice or credentials
i wanted people to judge me on my words, not my status
when i got to some status purely through my brand I realised I had to make decisions to change my words to make others happy
however that is a dumb decision and the opposite of why it’s for
politics is a good example, everything is political and staying away from it is a stance, at least have backbone to push what you believe in
and also calling others out, you create haters but someone has to do it
@sibeleth@KeyboardMonkey3 what are you talking about you are the same your a scammer ? just because you don’t do as much as what he does, because you can’t, doesn’t mean your money is ethical
everything he says applies
@Altcoin_Baggins@insidecalls when you make $5M fast you don’t think about all the extra and even if you do it’s 10-20% of networth assuming 0 growth
but yes a house, a car, holidays, etc. We are saying one time costs
