Carter Starocci talked about how aggressive Van Ness is and the motor he has in him during media availability on Tuesday. Boy is it showing out on the mat right now. Van Ness is going after Tolentino, working really hard on top
Yet another solid showing from Bartlett. The junior hasn't done anything super flashy this season, but has just looked really reliable out on the mat time and time again. A great sign of progress heading into Big Ten competition.
Steen with another brutal opponent in Kaylor. He's faced a number of ranked guys to start the season and won't be favored to win once again here. Even if he can manage to keep this match close and give himself a shot, it would be absolutely massive for his confidence
A couple huge matches to watch for today
- Gary Steen looking to pick up a confidence building win against No. 12 Brandon Taylor
- Alex Facundo facing toughest test of the season so far against No. 23 Matthew Olguin
- Max Dean looks to get back on track vs. No. 11 Tanner Harvey
Lehigh should be Penn State's toughest test so far this season. A number of exciting matches to look forward to with the obvious one coming at 197 pounds. No. 1 Max Dean vs No. 9 Michael Beard, just one year after Dean transferred in to Penn State and took Beard's spot at 197
Tough match for Dean there, but it is something we have seen before. Opponent keeps it close for too long and only needs one big moment to secure the upset. Something to learn from going forward for Dean
Would love to see what kind of points Ball can put up in this match against an opponent that has struggled this season. Ball could certainly start for several programs across the country, but has performed very well when filling in for Brooks and at open tournaments
Unfortunate for Barraclough to not get a shot to really wrestle there. Lost to his teammate in his last bout but still got the start here. Would have been a great opportunity to get back on track and keep his momentum from early this season going
You've got to absolutely love what you saw from Van Ness there if you're a Penn State fan. Showing some great stuff very early on in the season. Have to be excited for what he could do down the line
Great resiliency from Beau. Went down early, saw and opportunity in the second but just missed it. Then came back in the third and got the pin to keep his record perfect on the season
Bartlett looked like he got a little greedy to end the second period there. Had a good shot at a takedown, but went for a little more and ran out of time
Bravo-Young shooting for his second straight tech-fall against the MAC champion Koehler. Getting in on legs repeatedly and cutting him loose seconds later. Efficient work from RBY
OPINION: Our @LooseTanyon believes the NWCA All-Star Classic provided a general blueprint for what could be a very successful and necessary midseason wrestling event

Really impressive stuff from Starocci to close that match out. Not pretty in any sort, but just a physically dominant performance. No major shots from Lewis for the entirety of the match and a ride out against one of the strongest guys at the weight, can't ask for much more
