FGN Dollar Bond
1. The FGN wants to borrow $ (Not Naira) from investors. Landmark offer. First foreign currency issued domestic bond.
2. Minimum is $10,000
3. Total Borrowing is $2B. This particular offer is $500m, so $1.5m will be offered later.
4. Interest offered is 9.75% p.a. paid Semi Annual, thus if you invest $10,000 you get $487.5 every six months for five years, then your $10,000 is returned to you.
5. You need a BVN and NIN to invest if you are Nigerian, even from the diaspora. No cash allowed.
6. Can you transfer from Domiciliary Account? yes but only if the cash was in the account as at July 20th 2024 (30 days from application date)
7. Benefits? Your interest is paid in dollars and its tax free. Interest is exempt from Company Income Tax, Personal Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax. This is for investors that want to hedge their Naira and earn $ income
8. Risks? issuer risk (that's why its 9.75%😉)
9. If you need cash can you sell the bond before maturity? Yes ask your broker for current pricing
