A short drive from Birkdale, Hesketh is the oldest club in town. It’s fun, in a Tenacious D kind of way. There’s plenty of good stuff here and the finishing six-hole stretch is superb.

There is a certain mystique about Royal Lytham. A classic out-and-back routing, with a par 3 opener, it has hosted #TheOpenChampionship eleven times.

Birkdale is brilliant - a network of holes inside a network of dunes. Flanked on both sides by the mounds, between them like corridors, each one feels like an amphitheater. The Open Championship returns here in July.
