@DevLand95213410 Had to do 2 rebrands before landing on Demons Of London. Better for it, but at the time finding something else with the same name, one of which launched just a month prior - so got there first. Even after SEO and checking for close matches.
So much infrastructure needed for a multiplayer rpg, even just for alpha testing:
* hosted servers
* client that can patch itself
* website + api + download client installers
* backend admin to keep on top of things
Can actually get back to game building now!

Code-Signing nightmare :(
Spent all day on this journey. Not using steam, gog, itchio, etc - so code signing is down to me to prevent the blue box popup.
* Tried microsoft/azure code-signing, but it's so complex you'd need a dedicated team to work through it all.
* OV certificates too expensive when starting out.
How's anyone else working through code-signing, or just not bothering and let people work through the 2 step smartscreen box?

Testing the new patching system which keeps the client up to date. It has full "resume" functionality, so no starting from scratch if the connection is lost.

@BeanJuiceStudio It would be interesting to see how much AI has been used, art or coding wise on releases from the major software studios, and does the pile-on differ to that of indie releases.
Back in the office, and it's combat time. Obviously one of the most important elements for a multiplayer RPG, so that'll be my focus for the next week.

Crimes and Talking with NPCs are this week's hot topic.
Every NPC has an option to recall some local, or global news/gossip. For those players with Investigator skills, NPCs can also dish out gossip about crime witnesses, for the Investigator to chase down.
Find the witnesses, talk to them, and they will provide Witness Statements. Collect these along with other forms of evidence to solve crimes and win the bounty. See your foes go down, or ignore the crimes of friends. Maybe pay off Investigators to ignore certain crimes.
NPCs can also provide skill training, quests, and civic functions. Always talk to NPCs.

Every crime leaves clues and witnesses. Use your Inspector skill to gather them all, hand them into a police station for your reward - the judge will take it from there.
At higher levels, you can enact a citizen's arrest for a bounty.
Convicts face time in the prison zone.

A grind of a day, fixing bugs, and removing areas of fragility. Not rock n roll game dev at all, more a test of mental health and fortitude. These are the #toughdays#gamedev fam. Standing with you all. #indiedev#mentalhealth
Always take backups AND keep a set off-site.
Got caught out a few years back when a c: drive died. It was partitioned, with game code on a partition - same physical drive. 100% loss. I was the fool.
Don't put it off - take regular backups!
