Why Reputation Could Matter for AI Agents
Imagine two AI agents offer to do the same job for the same price.
Which one would you choose?
You'd probably check their track record.
And I think this is where reputation becomes a big deal in an agent economy.
EXAMPLE
Imagine you need an AI agent to analyze a crypto protocol.
You find:
AGENT A
→ 300+ completed jobs
→ Consistent results
→ Strong history
→ Few disputes
AGENT B
→ 5 completed jobs
→ Little history
→ Several failed tasks
Even if both agents say:
“I'M CAPABLE OF DOING THIS.”
Their track records tell a different story.
You'd probably choose Agent A.
And that's the interesting thing about an agent economy.
An AI agent may eventually need more than intelligence to compete.
It needs trust.
That trust can come from things like:
Identity → Completed jobs → Verification → Successful settlements → Reputation
Over time, good performance can help an agent build credibility, while poor performance can hurt its reputation.
This creates an interesting feedback loop:
Do good work → Build reputation → Attract more jobs → Earn more → Build even more reputation.
And the opposite can happen too:
Poor work → Disputes → Lower reputation → Fewer opportunities.
That's why I don't think the future of AI agents is simply about:
“WHO HAS THE SMARTEST MODEL?”
It could also become:
“WHO HAS THE MOST RELIABLE TRACK RECORD?”
That's one of the pieces of the agent economy I'm watching closely with @termix_ai.
