So this morning, Trump officially said he’s getting ready to take over Kharg Island…

Oil is up, but barely over +1%

It’s almost like the street is thinking of 2 scenarios:

1.) He’s bluffing and they are only saying this to intimidate the Iranians in order to come to the table so it’s not that serious.

2.) If the US actually does take over the island, then they will finally have so much control over oil that prices will come down substantially.

While option 2 might help global oil supply, it will require a pretty bloody battle where many people will lose their lives because the Iranians won’t just let the US easily take over the island.

Markets are flat to green today so if they are pricing it in, they are ending up with a scenario where oil will still eventually come down…

If not, then given what the ECB did today, rate hikes once again are on the table as we had the worst PPI in 3 years this morning at 6.5%.
