@purplemonkeyemy Hmm yeah maybe it's just very general? It's also so weird to me that school starts in the middle of the summer in the US! School starts right after Labour Day in Ontario (and I think a lot of Canada)
@purplemonkeyemy Haha well I saw in your reply to someone else that your kindergarten is graded. In Ontario, we just get a progress report on things like sharing, emotional intelligence stuff etc. Basically, it is like daycare with some loose teaching lol
@purplemonkeyemy Man that does seem extreme for kindergarten. It's a bit different up here in that we have junior and senior kindergarten but we pulled my daughter out for a whole month in December 2022 because of rising COVID numbers. Kindergarten is not mandatory here though
@purplemonkeyemy I dunno I've heard crazy things like people giving $20 for the first tooth and $5 for the rest. No clue what I'm going to do when my daughter starts losing her teeth π¬
@purplemonkeyemy Oh man we just started watching Bluey and I keep trying to get my kids to watch it just so I can watch it. Sleepytime always gets me "Remember, I'll always be with you, even if you can't see me, because I love you". Then my daughter is like "why are you crying" lol

@purplemonkeyemy Woo that's awesome! My son wasn't sure about it at first but it definitely saves us from having to hold him over the toilet when we go out. And it folds so easily
@purplemonkeyemy This one!

I think I linked you to the American site.
@purplemonkeyemy We were having a hard time getting my son to go on the potty in a public place and we bought a foldable adapter that is the best! He's used it twice now on outings and it comes in its own little bag π
@sarahradz_@clhubes And we know this coming out of library school! I'm a mom and a librarian and I love the programming offered to children at the public libraries so I don't see why they must offer even more. They already have tons of activities, however they are built for the library environment.
@sarahradz_@clhubes This is a common myth and stereotype of librarians. Obviously every individual is different but 90% of many librarians jobs is to interact with people. I'm a librarian at a law library, an environment as bookish as you can imagine and most of my job is taking to people.
@purplemonkeyemy Yeah we haven't been invited to any parties so I think everyone selects. Our schools in Ontario are very overcrowded unfortunately! We had my daughter give the invites to her friends with some help from the teacher
@purplemonkeyemy We just did my daughter's party and I ended up only inviting 4 from her class of like 35 (mind you this is senior kindergarten). I thought the teachers might say I'd have to invite all or none but they were fine... Could also be because it's a super large class π
@amandadoeslaw Sorry to butt in but you could always ask your local law library for help! If you are located in Ontario, the Great Library of the LSO can help look in secondary sources! Otherwise the other law societies of Canada have great librarians π
