As we pass through the election cycle, I regularly check the candidate lists, trying to figure out who will be arriving in Sacramento on the first Monday in December.
I did a little history digging this past weekend to find the last time (before David Couch in AD32) that we had someone elected to the #CALeg without facing an opponent in both the primary and general election... it was 1948!

Some of the best filming locations are closer than you think. 📍
The Sandy Fire is now 90% contained with 107 firefighters remaining assigned to the incident. Please see the attached map.
The suppression cycle continues as firefighters utilize infrared drones during nighttime operations to identify remaining hotspots. During the day, firefighters hike into rugged terrain to locate and fully extinguish those hotspots.
For your safety and firefighter safety, please use caution while recreating in the area, especially on dirt roads where fire personnel and equipment continue to operate.

A California Senate committee has rejected a deeply flawed plan to change the state’s #antitrust laws, one that would trigger sweeping consequences for businesses and consumers alike and was identified as a Cost Driver on CalChamber’s annual Affordability Agenda.
CalChamber and a coalition of business sector opponents made clear that the bill would have a chilling effect on the development of new platforms designed to meet the demands of California consumers and small businesses.

If you call Film LA, the very first option is to report a production you think should be shut down for not having a permit.
The third option is to try and get a permit. If you don't get your application in my 10am a week before the shoot, they will not process your application. Not 10:05, not 12pm. Must be in by 10am. When you speak to the person at Film LA, they truly sound like they don't even want you to shoot there.
I hope whoever our next mayor is shuts down Film LA and makes it free and easy to get a permit.
LA has the best crews, the best casts, the best weather. It shouldn't be cheaper and easier to fly to Oklahoma and shoot there than it is to shoot at home. It's time to bring filmmaking back to LA.
After months of searching, a few weeks ago…we got the keys.
It’s official…welcome to Simi Vibe.

Phase 1: clear it out, clean it up, and start the transformation.

We're not going to cross the Atlantic ocean.
1. No one has any idea how far away the nearest land is. It could be thousands of miles!
2. Surely we can just build faster caravels? The problem is that wind can only push you so fast.
3. There are no landmarks out on the ocean. Sure you can use the stars to determine your latitude, but with no way of knowing your longitude you'll just get hopelessly lost.
4. The storms are ferociously powerful. The waves are huge. Ships would sink long before they reached the other side of the ocean.
5. There's no fresh water. You'd need to carry it all with you, along with all your food. The more stores you carry, the less capable wind is of propelling you, and the slower you go. There's no way you'd be able to carry enough to avoid death by thirst or starvation long before you reached land. The Sail Equation prevents it.
It’s such an incredible time capsule of a different era of the internet that *Mike Huckabee* was probably the first major candidate to really successfully leverage viral meme politics. You could never convince a Zoomer of this.
