Being an American now is just waking up and being told how much more money the president and his billionaire buddies are stealing, then being expected to act like it’s a normal fucking day.
@P__Airoldi Suzuki only has four years left before UFA and more than doubles his salary (if he even stays). The year after Caufield is a UFA, and there’s a major piece every year after that.
There’s some urgency here. Habs need guys in their prime *right now* and for the next four years.
200 feet of excellence. Congratulations to Nick Suzuki for winning the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the NHL's best defensive forward. 🏆
L’excellence sur 200 pieds. Félicitations à Nick Suzuki, lauréat du trophée Frank-J.-Selke remis au meilleur attaquant défensif dans la LNH. 🏆
Per Frank Seravalli on Frankly Hockey, there were whispers of a Lafreniere trade to Montreal around deadline.
Would you re-visit this trade during the summer if you were Kent Hughes?

Nick Suzuki surprised Cole Caufield with the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy before Caufield surprised Suzuki with the Frank J. Selke Trophy. 😂
The Lady Byng Memorial Trophy is awarded for sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct and the Frank J.Selke Trophy is awarded to the top defensive forward.
Imagine how pissed Habs management are at the Leafs:
1) Treliving failed to file the Knies trade in time
2) Keith Pelley named several individual Habs prospects at a press conference
3) Leafs leak the name of a major Habs prospect (Zharovsky) involved in a near trade
According to @yyzsportsmedia on X, Kent Hughes said this to Brad Treliving about the Knies/Zharovsky trade that failed because it was sent to the NHL at 3:01 pm at the trade deadline:
“If you’re not fired by the summer, you need to honor this trade” - Kent Hughes
"Hischier is a left-handed Nick Suzuki. The fit is beyond perfect for Montreal if Hischier were ever actually available. I think the Canadiens would be willing to pay a real price and not mess around in that trade scenario."

@slafplzscore@simonpoisvert Yeah I agree on centres being rare than wingers. But then, the Habs picked Slaf partly because first line wingers of that size are just as rare as 2Cs
@slafplzscore Power forward that can put up points and fight are very rare.
Also keep in mind the two firsts are super late 1sr rounders. Worth way less than the Dobson ones. It’s more like the Newhook picks.
Kent, this is the most undervalued prospect in the draft. He’s the second coming of Eric Lindros. His only defect is he couldn’t throw a puck into a garbage can.
