Hampstead is one of London's oldest and most exclusive historic villages. Tracing its roots back to Anglo-Saxon times, it transitioned from a rural farming hamlet to a fashionable 17th-century spa resort and evolved into the highly affluent, artistic, and literary sanctuary of today. This walking tour is a great excuse to enjoy a picturesque, historic location without the bustle and noice of central London. We shall frequent some stunning streets, locations, and, of course, pubs whilst discussing the many takes attached to them.
Hampstead Underground Station is located at Hampstead High Street, London, NW3 1QG (on the Northern Line). About ten minutes from King's Cross.
Each tour will last roughly between 3-1/2 to 4 hours (or more) and will include several pubs that we will both visit and pass. We will be visiting some of #London's most famous and impressive locations, and of course, pubs, whilst venturing into various historical epochs. If you need to leave early, then please let me know at the time, and I'll direct you.
Prices: Β£20 per person (for over 18s),

To me, the greatest view in Westminster is on the green behind the statue of George V. From here, modernity and the humans it's produced are blocked out and replaced by the awe-inspiring view of Gothic and Gothic revival architecture.
The Palace of Westminster, designed by Charles Barry, which was made to look like the 'Lady Chapel' (built in the early 1500s under Henry VII as a gothic extention to the over 700 year old Westminster Abbey), are two of my favourite buildings in the world.
Together, they create a view of unparalleled majesty and embody high culture. This view and the efforts that created it is an example of the standards and capabilities of artistic architecture.
This is why I will never take modern architecture or the excuses used to defend it seriously. We can all see the difference between culturally significant brilliance and bland internationalism.
To suggest otherwise is simply a lie. If this is what we've done over the last millennium, then do not tell me for one second that we shouldn't or couldn't be doing it now.

Yet another beautiful, historic location is due to be turned into a housing estate. Have a look at this. It's not good enough that our cities have no character left. Apparently, our countryside needs updating as well.
View and then share to make others aware. Thank you π€
The History and Fate of the Briggens House Estate
For centuries, Briggens house, on the Briggens Estate, has stood as a prime example of high culture and architectural splendour. Its history is as extensive as it is fascinating, which is why some of it is covered in this video. On a (very) warm, sunny day, we took a trip to this beautiful spot that sits in the picturesque countryside between #Essex and #Hertfordshire, not only talk about what it's seen and been through, but its potential fate.
Of course, as mentioned in the video, this certainly isn't a representation of the average Briton, but, it is an example of how much more beautiful things used to be in the world of the wealthy compared to the penthouse mentality of today. Who knows, maybe a force of magic will prevent the house and the grounds from becoming a new-build housing estate.
Up and down our Isles, a wave of modernistic uniformity is changing Britain as a whole. Our old buildings suffer, or disappear, whilst the new one's do not take on the image of Britain we all know and love.

On the left is the instillation of a brand new, gleaming red K6 telephone box being installed in London during the 1930s. Designed by architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, the red phone boxe became a symbol of Britin. On the right is what they've become. If they're not being graffitied, stickered, attacked, or being treated as a public urinal, they're being shipped off to cemeteries to rot or to be sold as ornaments.
Not only were they removed on mass to water down British culture and uniformity, but the society of today vandalises the few we have left. β³οΈ

Rochester, the historic port town in Medway, Kent, is one of my favourite places in the world. Famed for its Norman castle, ancient cathedral, and deep connections to Charles Dickens, the town offers a charming High Street filled with independent shops and annual festivals. From Roman walls to homes that housed kings of England, there's far too much to talk about in this small town than I have room to type.
With a 1000 year old castle, and a Norman cathedral with it's foundation stretching back to 604 AD, this really is one of the most historic, and wonderful sights in England. You will be taking photographs all day and will want to return. Once you walk around, you understand that even though it's small, it takes more than one day to really take it all in. I travel down often just to appreciate the area and relax.
Direct, frequent services run via Southeastern and Thameslink. Fast trains from London St Pancras International take about 40 minutes.
We will be covering so many topics and observing so many forms of architecture that however much I want to talk about them now, I'd better wait until the day.
I find this are to be incredibly special, and somewhere I feel at home. I hope that (if you're joining us) that you will too.
I am very much looking forward to this outing and can not emphasise enough just how beautiful, and educational the area is.
