The wait is agonizing! ๐ OnFoot is officially in review for the Apple App Store. The anxiety of waiting for that "Approved" email is killing me. Fingers crossed we can finally get a real pedestrian map into your hands very soon. ๐ค๐ถโโ๏ธ #buildinpublic#indiehackers#iosdev
The startup catch-22:
Investors want traction before investing.
But founders need investment to generate traction.
I'm bootstrapping Onfoot, an app addressing a gap in the location-app market. The product exists. The challenge is getting it in front of enough people.
If I could afford to generate traction at scale alone, why would I need an investor?
I'm looking for an angel who sees the potential and wants to help turn it into growth.
How many great products die before they get their chance?

Google Maps and Waze mapped the roads for cars. Onfoot is mapping the rest of the city for pedestrians. Itโs Waze for people on foot: crowdsourced safety alerts, hidden shortcuts, and foot-only routes. This is a massive blind spot in current navigation tech. https://t.co/GhtZFFUMpp
But you can give us a chance right? Google Maps and Waze mapped the roads for cars. Onfoot is mapping the rest of the city for pedestrians. @elonmusk Waze solved driving. Onfoot is solving walking. We built the first crowdsourced navigation app for pedestrians with real-time safety alerts and foot-only shortcuts. Nobody is dominating this space yet. https://t.co/fUrUrCKejj
@elonmusk Cars have Waze to avoid traffic. Pedestrians have nothing to avoid dangerous streets or find the fastest walking shortcuts. Onfoot changes that. It's the first smart, crowdsourced map built exclusively for foot traffic. See how it works: https://t.co/s3zF8Q8Fwu
Visiting the Van Gogh Museum made me realize he wouldn't be who he was without his brother & sister-in-law. It makes you wonder: how many of us fight daily inner demons, and how many truly have two people to count on?
โWhile I love his famous pieces, these darker ones are my favorite. In his moments of deepest confusion and uncertainty, he truly found beauty. ๐จ๐ป
Left my QR code cards at some hostels & went back the next day to check. The two places that were the nicest to me? Cards already gone. ๐คก Didn't even check the rest, lost all faith in humanity. A simple "no thanks" to my face would've been better than trashing it! ๐๐ฎ
Asked AI to show me my future self once my app becomes a massive success, and this is what it gave me. ๐ Until I reach this level of glamour, I'll be back to building! ๐ป๐

Every bug report or "this felt weird" helps. Thank you! ๐
Most map apps route you like youโre a car with legs.
Long detours. Main roads. The โsafeโ way thatโs 15 minutes longer.
OnFoot knows youโre a person: bridges, alleys, shortcuts cars canโt take, with safety reports from people who walked them first.
๐ถ Walk smarter.

@levelsio Iโm living proof. 50, self-taught, working shift jobs, and I built and shipped a navigation app to the Play Store with AI as my dev partner. 3 years ago that wasnโt possible for someone like me. โSoftware is deadโ isnโt quite right: software just stopped being gatekept.
OnFoot just passed Appleโs TestFlight review. ๐
It took 19 builds to get here.
Iโm a solo, self-taught founder. A few months ago OnFoot only existed on Android. This week it runs on iPhone.
What I had to learn along the way:
โ iOS code signing (without owning a Mac)
โ building in the cloud with Codemagic
โ App Store privacy declarations
โ export compliance (encryption questions Iโd never heard of)
โ why a โDebugโ build wonโt open on a real iPhone
โ and a first review that came back asking for more information
Every rejection told me exactly what was missing. So I fixed it and sent it again.
What OnFoot does:
Walking navigation built for people, not cars.
โข Safety alerts shared by other walkers
โข A safer route when yours passes near one
โข SOS one tap away
Next: real feedback from iPhone users before the public App Store launch.
If you walk in cities, especially at night or somewhere new, Iโd love you to test it. Link in the reply ๐

Great question, honestly the hardest part of the whole thing.
Whatโs live today:
โข Any user can report a fake or wrong alert, or block the person who posted it
โข The safer route is always a choice. OnFoot shows both and you decide, so a bad alert never blocks a route
โข I can remove bad reports myself
Whatโs next:
โข Alerts that fade out over time unless confirmed
โข A quick โstill there?โ yes/no from people walking past
Thanks for the kind words about the iPhone too ๐
