Talking to a freelance friend yesterday (different industry) who said companies aren’t allowed to dictate freelancer rates, as that would make you a disguised employee. Is publishing the only industry where freelancers don’t get to set their own rates??

can’t stop thinking about how when bats get radiotagged researchers often don’t use the location data for the first night to establish roosts, because the bats will go and sulk in a different roost than usual for a day before going back to where they actually live
