@KMFilipowski@belle379@AB_AgainstUCP What do you mean, "what they deem proper"???? Teachers, whether in private or public education, are all required to teach the SAME government mandated curriculum. Your private school curriculum is exactly the same as the public curriculum. So many misconceptions out there!
@carbonUnit42@allisonjade Because they're allowed to reject students with complex needs, behavioral challenges, etc while also benefiting from smaller class sizes and $$$ that's been diverted away from public schools for basic resources.
@mayuronx@Dave_Eby Teachers are not babysitters. They are educators. Their time after instruction is spent on paperwork, lesson planning, grading, meetings. Whether you see them do that at school or take it home.
@PlumberAlberta@CKerneyWriter Furthermore, it is not the teachers fault the population has exploded & needs in class ranging from ESL, autism, ADHD, global delays, trauma, children in diapers, physically aggressive kids. Happy to support teachers to change the classroom conditions my 6 yr old deals with.
@PlumberAlberta@CKerneyWriter Teachers are on a ten month salary. That is, they are paid for ten months. Part of their pay is withheld each month and distributed over the summer months. The misconception is that they get paid while on holiday. They don't.
@TheoSaurus9@ABDanielleSmith Education system is underfunded. Kids w special needs r being crammed into crowded classrooms with little/ no support. Inclusion without support = abandonment. Tchrs keep the system fr crashing by using their own income 2 buy resources. Yet their pay hasn't kept up w inflation.
@ABDanielleSmith My 6 year old is in an overcrowded classroom. Amazing teacher but is pulled in too many directions with the multiple special needs students who disrupt learning & pose safety issues. An over-stimulating, stressful environment for all concerned. Support your kids teachers.
@InstaRand77@ABDanielleSmith If only the UCP knew that there are MANY conservative minded teachers that feel let down by the UCP. Yes, those special needs kids - through no fault of their own- are causing massive disruptions to learning in overcrowded regular ed classrooms.
@TheoSaurus9@ABDanielleSmith Why do you assume teachers are all lefties? Most of the teachers I know are conservatives right of centre and tend to vote conservative nationally but are at a loss for who to vote for provincially because Danielle Smith's party is terrible for education.
@he20328@NateHornerAB I'm not left wing. I'm not ATA or a teacher. Simply a parent who sees zero money invested in education and our kids are suffering for it.
@a_millholland@nenshi Arthur, You are so ill-informed. The curriculum was created by the UCP government. The teachers are required to teach it. You are embarrassing yourself spewing this ignorance. Take it up with the UCP education minister.
@CalgaryPolice "...take care of each other." Yet Christmas Day two of your cruisers passed by an elderly man struggling to change a tire on the deerfoot while SUVs and semis zoomed dangerously close to him. Why not stop behind him and put your lights on? Put out cones to secure his safety?
