“Trouble with the curve”… Ever since their last win streak, opponents dramatically increased the use of breaking balls (sliders, curveballs, sweepers, etc.) against the Cubs:
• Cubs batters saw breaking balls on 37% of pitches in May — the highest monthly rate in the pitch-tracking era (since 2008) for the team, and one of the top 2-3 highest rates any MLB team has seen in any month ever.
