So proud to have led @CareQme Queen’s House to win Care Home of the Year 2020 for the 2nd time. What an amazing team & thank you to our relatives for nominating us #carehomes#nursing@cazzyraw1@LouMcintee
We work hierarchically, & make career progression linear. What a waste. Let's share ideas, energy, & wisdom across our generations. Go beyond 'level', involve more people in decision-making. See learning as reciprocal & lifelong. We surely need all the ideas & energy we can get.
Talking in terms of top-down & bottom-up in organisations misses the point. How about we listen to each other across & regardless of hierarchical levels? It's a waste not to. Ideas & answers surely lie in our collective know-how & experience, wherever & whoever we happen to be.
@brigidrussell51 I don’t think bottom up is meant to be patronising, I think it’s an attempt to move away from a command and control environment to a much more inclusive and involved culture. Reality is that those doing the roles have a much better idea of how they should develop.
@brigidrussell51 Top & bottom are metaphors aren’t they, for organisational relationships. Maybe we could try circular organograms? Ackoff talked about circular organisations. But who is at the centre?
@janeeedouglas A sad farewell to the best manager, leader and mentor I could have wished for. I’ve been so lucky to know you and work for you Jane. Good luck in your new job xx
@janeeedouglas@Queenshouse1 @MurrayHouse10 @leitch_trudy@tracyrichardso8@Karina_Louise Loved this kick off meeting today, such positive vibes from our 12 nominated members. I’m really excited about our new Cabinet, and being involved in shaping the future of Queens House as an organisation.
I’m sitting in crowded A&E with my kid, who seems to have appendicitis, marvelling at how patient & kind the staff are in spite of the heavy pressures on them. True, it’s best not to get ill at weekends, but thank God for the NHS - creaking, bureaucratic but excellent.
