Last December, within the same week, my parents got sick. Dad broke his hip. Mum developed an infection in her foot.
Both were dismissed by doctors. For 3 days my Dad had a shattered hip, before emergency surgery. My mother was being ‘overly cautious’ about ‘mild skin irritation’

They recovered, though mums foot never got any better OR worse.

In April she had surgery to remove breast cancer. Then a round of radiation.

We were barely home from hospital before Dad fell and broke his femur. Mums foot flared up very badly. She put it down to stress, as the doctor told her there was nothing wrong.
It got rapidly worse.

When Dad got home after leg surgery,
an emergency appointment at the GP resulted in a diagnosis of Athlete’s Foot. You know, the mild fungal infection that is treated with over the counter cream?

Fast forward a fortnight. My mother has had an amputation, and will be in recovery for 6 months. She was in hospital for 9 DAYS before a podiatrist took a single look at her foot. They just pumped her full of antibiotics. And even then, the doctor got the diagnosis wrong. The surgeon informed her, once she’d already been mutilated. They had 9 months to intervene.

And for the last few days, I’ve worried that my Dad is going insane. He’s been incontinent and babbling nonsense.
I took him to the doctor today and told them I believe he has a UTI.

The nurse confirmed this. And she actually had the bottle to suggest that we go home and wait for a doctor to give us a phone and get him started on antibiotics - probably in a COUPLE OF DAYS. His surgery was weeks ago. The infection will have been building all that time. And she wanted me to leave the surgery and wait, because ‘fingers crossed’ a doctor would phone soon.

There were 10 staff in the large fish bowl admin office. Not a single patient in the waiting room.

I am sick and tired of people making excuses for how much ‘pressure’ doctors are under. They are negligent at every opportunity. And frankly, I am scared.

Nope. The answer is to remove your kid from any state-funded institution. Their insane incentive system places the malefactors at the top of the priority list, burying students with the most potential in chaotic (sometimes violent), low-expectations classrooms. 14/

Since parents are forced to pay for their child’s education through taxes, they rightfully assume the schools need to provide the service. Period. End of story. The answer to this is School Choice. Expel the kids and give parents their money back to let them educate their own kid

Parent dutifully signs every behavior report that is sent home. Kids return them to the issuing teacher but, clearly, parents have a "let them eat cake" attitude toward the school. Other than signing forms, the kid's behavior at school is not their problem. 4/
