A Korean skincare company redesigned its packaging to mimic its product ingredients, such as cucumber, carrot, and even bamboo.

The result?

Ever heard of skin hunger (aka touch starvation)?

It's that deep, aching craving for non-sexual human touch — hugs, hand-holding, a pat on the back — when we go too long without it.

Our skin is our largest organ + gentle touch releases oxytocin (the "cuddle hormone"), lowers stress, boosts immunity, and even helps regulate heart rate & mood.

Without enough positive physical contact, people can feel increased anxiety, depression, loneliness, higher cortisol, sleep issues, and weakened immune response.

It's a real physiological need, like hunger for food — wired into us from birth. Especially common in times of isolation, remote work, or if you're living alone. You're not "needy" — humans literally need touch to thrive. 💙

Have you felt it? How do you cope? (Pets, weighted blankets, self-massage, asking for hugs when safe?)
