@ramothrider1@38CaliberReview @DakotaWillink 3/ Here is a CBC article where it explains why his charges for writing child pornography were dismissed. https://t.co/QoahJzFhHD
@ramothrider1@38CaliberReview @DakotaWillink 2/ Also read the Supreme Court ruling dismissing written child porn charges that list the threshold needed.https://t.co/8wiGYHbfiY
@SadieHallersPen Having read through the Supreme Court judgement which dismissed the written child porn charges back in 2003, I don’t think this book comes anywhere close to meeting the threshold.
@knockinbooks @DakotaWillink Actually not all RH books are between consenting adults depending on the various state laws. In some states a 16 yr old and a 19 yr old or even an 18 yr old is statutory rape.
@38CaliberReview @DakotaWillink The book is not illegal in Canada. Read our laws and the Supreme Court decision that dismissed written child porn charges on books far worse than this one.
@caitlynlynch6 @DakotaWillink Writing about sex with people under 18 is not illegal in Canada. We have strict laws about written child porn, but it does have to meet specific criteria.
@DakotaWillink 2/ If age is the only thing that makes this not a romance then we have issues because age of consent varies across the globe. Will we police what a romance is by country and year?
@DakotaWillink 1/ I hate that I’m having to defend this book, but if you take age out of it, look at the actions of the people involved, and say that it’s a romance then it has to stay.
@TymberDalton @SadieHallersPen Actually, after reading the book, I don’t think that it violates Canadian law at all. Of course a judge would have to make that decision, but I don’t think it comes close to meeting the definition especially when you read past court cases on this issue.
