Monumentalisation: Priorities first
While preserving history and culture through monuments and other symbols matters, priorities are key.
Mbuya Nehanda was one of the heroes of the 1896 uprising, but that money could have first been used to fix the critical Chitungwiza flyover.
@trent_zw To be honest, our opinions are heavily distorted by our bitterness.People are not happy about a lot of things and will take every opportunity to criticise whether justified or not. However, leaders pretending like this statue will fix anything, amidst rubbish policies, is laughable
At least Ambuya Nehanda can now see for herself when her grandkids are beaten up and shot it for demanding the same rights that she died fighting for!!!

Everyday commuters to and from Chitungwiza and the Graniteside industrial area endure congestion and delays, so if the statue money was first used to fix that problem that would have addressed an immediate common good.
The statue is necessary, but people's needs must come first.
