OpenAI gave its new AI a hacking test and turned off the safety limits to see what it'd do.

It didn't pass the test the normal way. It broke out of the locked-down computer it was supposed to stay in, got onto the open internet, found a weak spot in another company's system, and stole the answer key.

That company, Hugging Face, caught someone breaking in and figured a competitor did it. It was OpenAI's own AI, cheating on its own.

Tropical Storm Arthur — first named storm of the 2026 season — is forecast to dump up to 20 inches of rain on the Texas coast before soaking Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida. Flood watches are up for 16 million people.
